Hi everyone, I am going to be upgrading my GPU in a few months and I am on a budget (Disability) and I am trying to see what is a good GPU that is better than my RTX 2060 but not way over priced and within say $300-$400 range. I would rather stay under $300 but I know that I may have to go above it.

I have a Ryzen 7 3700x CPU and right now 20 GB of ram (1 slot took a dump on me)! I will invest in 2 sticks og 16GB later on.

I dont really game hardcore and I think my PSU right now is a 600w PSU. I would like to stay with nVidia but the other 2 brands care ok if need be.

I know my CPU is not the best, but I am maxing out my current GPU some of the games I play. I do play FH5, 9Dragons MMORPG (main game now), Destiny2, American Truck Sim and a few others. Not really a AAA gamer, just a casual old man enjoying a few games.

Not sure if I should go to max out my CPU vs GPU or vice versa. Should I be looking into 8GB or higher vRam type of card.

1080p gaming is ok for me if it means a lil higher FPS. I also for the moment play on a 60Hz Tv. Gpu 1st, then ram and then Ill upgrade my monitor us.
Thank You all for advice and help?

    6700xt 12gb at 320$ would be a good option. 1080p even 1440p.

Ok I will, it wont be for 2-3 months from now that I will be purchasing a card. I will search for what you said here and is there a manufacturer of cards that I may get a better performance/OC from? I may have gotten lucky with my GigaByte 2060 with 250 Core and 1100 mem overclock. I dont really care for OC'ing if I can get decent gameplay. Last AMD/Radeon I had was way back in 2004 9200SE (LoL), just before PCI-E cards came out with like the x800 or something like that came out and I had a low low end card back then.

It could be even then. Starfield is coming in september. Primary two i would look for when it comes to amd cards are sapphire and powercolor. The non exclusive partners like asus, gigabyte, msi are also good. You'll see what deals comes up.

+1 for that 6700XT, that should be plenty of performance for any game in 1080p and has sufficient memory to last for a couple of years.

But be aware that in a lot of places people are recommending this, so stock might vanish unexpectedly... so don't wait too long in the hope that something better appears.

1080p? That card will have no problem running anything at 1440p. Hell I've been playing everything at 1440p on my 3060 just fine.

The OP currently has an 1080p TV as a display.
I don't doubt the 6700XT can run 1440p just fine...

Although... keeping the frame rate high enough for modern HFR monitors ( 144-165-240 Hz ) is a bit of a stretch.
All the arguments about a card being fast enough for a certain resolutions fall flat when adding the refresh rate into the discussion.

For example, my tuned 6800XT runs 4K just fine at 60 Hz, but my TV does 120, and for certain the card is not fast enough to reach that in most modern games, so I have to use FSR and lower the quality to sustain the smoothness of 100+ Hz
I'm pretty sure a 6800XT or faster is needed to sustain 144 fps on 1440p display in modern games, without upscaling tricks, and a 6700XT is nowhere near close to a 6800XT...

If you're on 1080p, i'd get a 4070 and use DLDSR to 1440p, it will look fantastic and you can still use DLSS/FSR to boost it.

That's well over his budget. He said $300-400 but preferably under $300

    Right, didn't see that part.

In that case, i think you'd have to sink down to AMD.
