My GTX1060 has gotten some strange issue, sometimes it's not displaying video upon PC boot. Everything else works normally and Windows starts normal just without any signal from GPU. Fans are also working. I have to restart computer few times to get it running normally, after it starts(with video output) everything works fine including GPU; benchmarks, temperatures, quality - fine. I have tried different cables and ports(HDMI, DVI) and the issue is there. Cleaning card and reinstalling it didn't work neither. And this PC has been running for few years in this configuration without any issues. I suspect it could be "cold joints" but I don't want to toy with heatgun. Any takes?

You can still see the bios screen right???

Ever tried going into safe mode? If so, was it successful?

If on win 10, Try launching the win 10 installation media, on the installation screen, look for a link “Repair your computer.” Click on it. It will boot your computer into Advanced Recovery.

When at the advanced troubleshooting, select Advanced Options, next click on troubleshoot and finally click on startup settings.

System will automatically reset itself, upon booting up after bios, you will get a screen, click on # 4 to go into safe mode, let me now if its successful.

If its Successful, ever tried using DDU under safe mode?

If using DDU was a success, try re-installing nvidia drivers, let me know how it turns out, thanks.

This is not driver issue, it's hardware issue. When nothing appears on PC launch, it means nothing appears. When stuff appear, everything works fine.

Out of curiosity, have you tried flashing your gpu firmware to see if that will work???

Also, ever tried it in another slot or in another system???

Could be your pci-e slot might be going bad., I know on one of my mobo's, first slot went bad, although it does work, sometimes I have to reboot the system several times over so the device manager can pick it up, but I am using another slot as main gpu on that mobo.

It does work, I just have to disable the main signal gpu, then re-enable it, reset system, it may or may not show up.

Believe it or not, I was playing under 1 gpu mode, Kings of lorn, and after a bit in the game, it took the slot with it, it is still functional but not working as it should.

Now it shows up as pci-e X8, even under load, still shows up as X8, but doesn't ruin my Folding@home PPD nor Boinc so all good.

You have another gpu floating around? if so, ever tried using that to see if the same behavior persists?

I don't think flashing firmware will change anything, GPU was working fine for like three years. This mobo of mine has only one GPU slot and I didn't try other system, neither I've tried other video card. As I said, once PC boots, everything works perfectly fine, it just doesn't want to boot properly sometimes(ie. it actually boots into Windows because I can set sounds that I do hear, but I got black screen and no video output).

Test pin 20 on your displayport cable for continuity, there should be NONE.
