gpu fried vrm ... but still working... (undead gpu?)

    just curious why this happen, i just was checking my old stuff so i can finally get rid off, so i found my old "dead" 980 lying around in a box so so had the great idea of testing just for fun because it was dead because a bad overclock and the vrm are now fried

    i don't know if you can see them but some are broken, with broken contacs or with melted welding, but when i put this thing in my computer well, I'm shocked that this thing still works, i tseted some games on it like overwatch, dark souls 1 & 2, csgo and still pretty good (at stock clocks since maybe if i put some overclock maybe will be dead forever)

    so im planing to sell it at very low cost on ebay since it still works but i wonder why it still works? some ideas?

    That's quite unusual! Pretty hard to guess but I'll try.... The VRMs (or some of them) may work in parallel and the others are supplying enough power to compensate.
