Hi all! To cut to the chase, my father's GPU (a GIGABYTE GTX 970 G1) seems on its way out. After almost 8 years of good service, it started crashing hic PC everytime he loaded up any game. I took the card to my own PC over the weekend, and I have replicated all his issues. Whenever any game is booted up, the card crashes the PC after a few seconds, if not immediately. It did this with Kingdom Come, Cities Skylines, Grim Dawn, Spellforce 3, and when trying Fur Mark (not the burn-in test) without fail. My setup is completely different than his (including the PSU), so other components shouldn't be to blame. When I returned my GTX 1080, the problems went away. The 970's been cleaned, the fans spin, and the temperature in Fur Marks (before starting the test) is normal, so overheating shouldn't be a problem. Any ideas? The GPU is old, so I wouldn't be that surprised if it was just the age showing. With that, I have another question - what to replace it with. Today's prices are ridiculous. I did manage to find a fresh GIGABYTE 2060 D6 6G for roughly 660$ (still too much for an previous gen card, but we all now the prices of current gen stuff from both AMD and NVIDIA), which would still be an upgrade for him... I would welcome any help and suggestions. Thank you all in advance.
