GPSVC.DLL missing from Vista RTM?

I can't believe this - I got Vista up and running just fine, and I go to run some .NET compiled apps, and BOOM - they don't work. So I bring up the Dependency Walker, and behold - they're all pointing to a file called GPSVC.DLL (some group policy service).

I can't find ANYTHING on google regarding this, which blows my mind given it's a fresh install, and all of my .NET applications (vs 2005) simply do not work.

Anyone familiar with this problem and is the fix as simple as getting the file?

    Thanks!

Are you saying your missing the file gpsvc.dll ?

    I find it here:

    :\Windows\System32
    :\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-grouppolicy-base_(*bunch of numbers*)

    And as gpsvc.dll.mui in :\Windows\System32\en-US

    Version: 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)

    http://www.fileproperties.com/g/gpsvc.dll.htm

It should be on the DVD somewhere (might be in a cab file). I wonder if "sfc /scannow" works (http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html)

When you say "they don't work", do they throw a error or what ?

Actually you're right - it's there. What I've come across is the whole security permissions thing. Unless I'm running as administrator, I can't even see the file.

To make things worse, depends.exe is completely inaccurate in its reports of telling me what's missing and what' there. I had a friend tell me to get rid of Vista x64 and switch to Vista x32 due to the number of problems with Visual Studio 2005, etc.

Vista sure looks pretty, but I am NOT liking the new security system...
