OK. well since finals are over I have decided to treat myself so I was wondering which one of these games to buy? I played the Gothic 3 demo and loved it and I played TES:Morrowwind and hated it. I heard Dark Messiah was OK. I really just want your opinion on which one was more fun:).

Well to answer your question I have played all three... Oblivion is without a doubt the best visual experience you could ask for when it comes to FP RPG. I have a habit of getting bored with games quickly, that or I end up doing a reformat before I get in very deep.. Guess thats why WOW works out so well for me.

Gothic 3 for me was a GREAT game. Very frustrating and ridiculously graphically demanding. I think they could have done a better job in containing the coding and streamlined it a bit. But then again I was playing it on my old system a pre preprescott pentium 4. Im excited to go back into it again and see how it flows. You die a lot in gothic 3,but it really is a sight to behold.

Dark Messiah I was very anxious to get to but then once I booted it up and got its overall sense of being completely linear and the countless load pauses between areas I lost my enthusiasm fairly quickly. Its a bummer too cuz the Source engine had me pumped up with the possibilities. Maybe I just got spoiled by Oblivions free flow environment.

So go with Oblivion or Gothic 3... But if you didnt like Morrowind I dont know how you're going to enjoy Oblivion.

The first 20 hoiurs of oblivion were great for me, but gets very reptitive and boring after that. I played gothic 3 a little bit and it seems pretty cool. Weird how i killed some guys like 5 times and they kept comin back, but still pretty good. Have never played Dark messiah.

I would pick gothic 3 over oblivion. Oblivion is way to over hyped!

^^Thats what I figured. I originally wanted to get a Non-FPS and Oblivion is FP so I think Gothic 3 is the way to go. Thanks for the reply's guys:).

Oblivion isn't strictly fp, you can toggle between fp and third person.

Dark Messiah is a story driven FPS with some RPG elements , while Oblivion and Gothic 3 are total RPG's ... anyway .. between these i'll recommend Oblivion ..

I recommend Gothic 3 because if you do not mind the bugs is the best , Oblivion is to repetitive !!

Yup, Oblivion is horrible, don't even consider it.

I don't even know why it's considered an RPG game. No matter what 'class' you choose, you can max all skills regardless... It's got absolutely nothing besides graphics.

I haven't tried Gothic3, and Dark Messiah is ok. Not too heavy on the system, but I can hardly see myself playing it the second time around (I'm gonna finish it the first time tonight).

im mostly a war/fps/sim gamer, and old school phantasy star is mainly the only RPG i would touch, and warcraft 1&2 for the RTS stuff

but oblivion just drew me in, imo one of the top 10 games of the last decade at least, awesome story, very large enbroments, awesome battle system, great physics, the high res texture packs are awesome also, if your machine can cope.

haven't tried gothic 3 yet, looks pretty nice.

i like dark messiah, i played the demo, i mean the story i could tell would be quite weak, nothing like oblivion or more hardcore RPG's, but it in itself is awesome from what i played, especially since you said you are short on time i would say go with dark messiah, i think you will be happy since it isnt SO open ended, and time consuming, just exploring imperial city in oblivion can take 2 days lol

my gf bought M&M:DM for me for xmas hehehe amoung a few other titles(yes i peek at the gifts) so jan should be a full month of gaming when i have the time.

Oblivion is the best "bang for your buck" game of the 3...

It's wide open, non-linear, and is highly customizeable...

DM is an awsome game! But I was disapointed in it's length. I enjoy games the most that give me losts of hours of game play. Oblivion measures in the hundereds of hours... I completed DM in a matter of 20 maybe...

Gothic 3 is a good game too... It is less linear and more open than DM, but not modable like Oblivion.

So it just depends on what your after. :)

I will say, alot of people's hate of Oblivion is due to the fact that it is just not thier style of game...

Well right now I can get Gothic 3 for $32 and since dark messiah doesn't seem all that good i think i will wait for oblivion to get cheaper and in the mean time enjoy Gothic 3:). I'll let you guys know tonight how it looks:).

which one do you think would run better on my rig at 1280x1024? I have been experienceing a lot of stuttering in the gothic 3 demo at medium settings.

I only played the Demo of Might and Magic but I really loved how it played compared to Oblivion. Gothic 3 looks pretty boring to me....but so did oblivion after awhile lol.
