Google has just released Android 9 Pie for the Pixels. Devices that participated in the beta are set to receive Pie at the end of fall. https://www.android.com/versions/pie-9-0/ https://www.theverge.com/2018/8/6/1...-pie-9-update-google-pixel-phone-release-date EDIT: Extraordinary beats me by the minute. Mod, please merge or delete.
This stuff is very much fragmented, google needs to find a way to update all devices quicky. Im on 7.1 waiting for 8.1 update (xiaomi redmi 5 plus)
I agree. I'm having a Nokia 7+, a freaking Android One device. Yet Google decided to release Pie for A1 devices and others who participated in the beta at the end of fall. That might be in December. That really defeats A1's purpose and Treble is just overrated. Maybe Fushia will do things different, but that's maybe 5 years away from now.
Google can't really do much about this anymore. There is already treble and Phone Manufacturers and Chip makers need to do the job in this case. Xiaomi promised to at least update all their phone's to Miui 9 but don't state the actual android version. The biggest problem is chip makers not releasing proper drivers for new android versions. Pie should be coming to the 7 Plus this month, you can't sign up for the Pie preview anymore.
Android One devices can't sign up for the preview anyway. At least I couldn't with my Moto X4 Android One edition.
