They will have to make their own drivers. You cant expect companies make drivers for your new OS before OS gets large amount of users. Google will have to prove that it's worth spending money.

I'm going to try it on VMware when it's out.

Waste of time...we don't need more OS's. It just complicates things.

    Yes we do.
If it's any good, it'll bring down prices. Microsoft can charge what ever it wants for windows because there are very few other choices.
Mac OS isn't a gaming OS. and Linux isn't for the casual user.

Who knows. Maybe Chrome OS will be pretty good. Maybe it'll be small, fast, and secure, with decent compatibility.

I think it may find home in embedded systems, internet cafes, and netbooks. As a primary desktop OS? Probably not for a while yet, if ever. But at cafes and in low-workload laptops used primarily for internet applications? I can see that. In the long run though, if anyone can bring another OS to popularity it's Google. No doubt I'll try it on my MSI Wind.

It will just be another bloody Linux Distro.

If they were serious, they would put more backing and money into it and make something like OS X in terms of building something that works well on a *nix base.

But it'll just turn out like some other version of Ubuntu.

    This.

I hope there will be some good support for VirtualBox and there are decent apps for it.

Most likely but quite a few people love and support Google so this could take off and actually become something like OS X.

Hey...If it's good, with good compatibility? I'll use it.

    Probably isn't though.

Most likely a modified Linux kernel with a Google shell.

Could actually be a good thing for the Linux community if you think about it. It's basically Google pushing Linux to the forefront, it sounds very promising ^.^!

if you are talking about your windows app, don't think so.

I'm not so sure this would be so great/ revolucionary, being based on linux.
    With Finch in this one.

but it wont be a gaming OS, thats a huge drawback for those wishing to be rid of windows. dx sdk's are too enticing for devs to want to switch unless another os took the mass share which would take years and only if MS made "vista" like OS's all the time.
If i could game any Direct X on another OS, i'd switch cause Windows is way to restrictive and i only use maybe 5% of its features if that.

you havnt used Linux apparantly, but i'm not talking about UAC lol
I'm referring to the OS, altering, removing, deleting...etc. MS doesnt want users to get too deep into it.

    even something simple like this:

see? thats bs...just to remove a pic.

there are tricks and apps to do alot of things, but the point is, its a very restrictive OS without alot of freedom unless someone makes software to do what you want. Just look at "driver reinforcement" on 64bit. Its easy to say that its for security...bs. i've had signed drivers cause bsod's, its all bout MS wanting money.

UAC isn't even restrictive in the first place... I have UAC on for ALL systems on full settings.

True, if I needed to remove that file on Linux I can just simply do:
sudo rm -vf <filename> and it'll delete it no questions asked

I don't know, at my college knowing Linux is very important as the School of Computer Studies heavily relies on Linux.

I've been using Linux since I was 13 so I'm very very comfortable w/ it.

As for Google Chrome OS, we'd only know how it's like when it's actually out.
