I never thought I would say this but I need to replace my phone (Nexus S), its sooo slow even with very few apps installed. If I play music and I open the browser... music freezes and browser takes 5 days to open, lol.

But I don't think the Nexus 5 would be good for me. Speed is there but I am looking for something with Line-Out similar to my Ipod Nano so I can plug it into my car's AUX (3.5mm). Problem with my Nexus S right now is that the volume is way too low because it uses the phone's amp when I use headphone out.

Another thing that I am looking for is IR, so I would use it instead of the 10 remotes I have at home. Also FM Radio would be useful to me, along with a good battery.

I am guessing the Nexus 5 will have none of that, maybe IR to use along with Chromecast but I doubt it.

A bit off topic but is there any workaround for the volume issue when plugged into my car? Not sure if there is something I can do with the micro usb to make it work, but I already use it to charge the phone in my car, so not much i can do.

So, any news on a release date? My wife's phone is a POS and I have no intention of buying her another gimped phone. I'd rather just buy her a Nexus and be done with it.

I think it's been 5 days or more since the last "leak". I'm getting really sick of Google's releases. Being a Nexus customer so far has been annoying.

Original Nexus 7 - pre ordered, no ship date was ever given. It just shipped
Nexus 4 - I spent 2 hours trying to get it the second time it was available. It showed up on my doorstep 1 month after the purchase
2013 Nexus 7 - touch screen problem is still unresolved for me
Nexus 5 - No friggen release date (I'm bracing myself for the same release problem as the N4 too)

nice, but I couldn't wait any longer and had to go with a G2 a few weeks ago for a few dollars more.

I refuse to buy any more phones that the carrier can make useless....

There's a lot of volume mods for Nexus devices, unlock, root and profit. I had to ditch my Nexus S when the Nexus 4 came out, the S was way too slow for the stuff I have been doing on the device. Impossible to live with a super laggy device where it couldn't keep up with the most basic demands (Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, music, SMS and calling)

October 31st is the rumoured date. Rumour source: MobileSyrup

Similar to what I said above: root and profit. Much of the carrier alterations can be simply removed by removing the APK from the /system partition.

Depending on the price, I'll be getting a Nexus5 and my wife will get my Nexus4. She currently has a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit T599, that seemingly can't be rooted. I've been searching for months to figure out how to root it so I can remove all the crap TMo put on it. Phone only has 4GB rom, and with all TMo's bloat installed it only leaves about 800mb for the user.

She'll probably be blown away, haha. The N4 is (still) a great phone. The only reason I'm going for the N5 is basically just epeen. In the back of my mind I'm hoping the camera doesn't suck too.

I still love my N4 and would buy another if they weren't sold out on Google Play and overpriced on Ebay....and I refuse to add another finance contract to my TMo account.

When you buy an android phone, it should be like buying a laptop at BestBuy. You should get the option of buying it with or without the additional bloat (beyond the manufacturer installed bloat).

I remember there was a thread on XDA that I ran into a couple months ago talking about rooting the device with limited success. Can't seem to find the thread anymore. The device is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and I see the rooting method there works on the T599?

I sure hope the camera doesn't suck because that's the big selling feature Google's pushing for the Nexus 5 based on the tagline from the leaked Google Play Store listing and the camera assembly.

I've been meaning to ask but Google is not taking pre-orders for the Nexus 5 are they?

There's 3 different versions of the Samsung Exhibit phone. The Samsung Galaxy Exhibit (T599), Samsung Exhibit and Samsung Exhibit 4G. All 3 are slightly different. The directions on xda are for the Exhibit 4G and don't work for the other 2 variants.

    No...at least not yet.

8MP OIS is pretty much confirmed at this point. But really it all comes down to how they handle it in software. iPhone still has probably the best camera to date but it's all because of how they process the image.

Supposedly N5 launch has been confirmed for this week...of course, that's coming from THG, so take with a grain of salt unless a more trustworthy site is saying the same.

Supposedly the launch is today 6pm UK time. Will be interesting to see if they keep a nice low price point and don't have the stock problems they had with the nexus 4.

Its a nice spec phone for the money, shame the battery isn't the larger rumoured size though and that phone operators are still charging the same as flagship phones on contract. As its price is so low you'd expect it to be sitting at the same contract prices as the s4 Mini but sadly that wasn't to be.
