Lots of games don't or can't load the entire area into memory. Open world games like GTA5 and Skyrim load new areas while playing. That means less hitching and popup on an SSD as compared to a HD. Has nothing to do with paging and everything to do with how the game is designed.

If you have only 4GB of RAM, then yeah I'd get more RAM over an SSD. You may have 32GB, but only a handful of games use more than 8GB of RAM. I hope you are doing something else that uses that memory or it is simply sitting there going to waste. Right now 16GB will cover any game on the market.

Does the size of the pagefile increase if you use CrossFire?

Virtual address space requirements does yes in GTA V anyway. I don't use pagefile but I needed one with that game.

Do you have a "traditional" page file option? Can you post a screenshot from the Memory section of Task Manager? :)

I'm using ZRAM for years in Linux, and in low memory situations it's awesome. Not only in these though, my desktop is always responsive, no matter what. Linux behaves a lot like Windows, it will use a swap partition if you give it to it, and some programs don't even work if you don't have it. ZRAM was a revelation to me.

If it is anything like Linux's ZRAM, it will improve it A LOT. GTA V is locking an immense amount of ram, to be able to "play" better with its streaming engine. I have 16GB of RAM and a pagefile, and it NEVER stutters for me. I don't believe it's badly written, quite the opposite. I hope that other open world games were coded as nice (let's wait for Gamebryo-from-the-Dead version 5.0 with Fallout 4).

Apparently it's getting released (along with everything else it seems, Legacy of the Void, Fallout 4) at November 10th.

Use the in-game frame-rate lock, but don't use the in-game Vsync. Force Vsync (but not Triple Buffering or Frame Limiter), throuhg RadeonPro. It made a world of difference for me.

    Please report back! :D

ReadyBoost is using flash drives that have zero access times to cache small files. It's not necessarily faster than a traditional HDD in sequential read, as most HDDs are faster for that than most cheap USB sticks. It should make no difference at all with an SSD, because SSDs are memory storage too, and have no access times whatsoever (except the controller latency).

I feel very excited! I totally expect + 200% increase in any game performance and 8k software scaling downsampling (even for x700 series gpus) !!!
