It could be a low-end die of the HD 6XXX series. At 28 nanometers I doubt it would be a CPU and that wafer doesn't look like it exclusively contains RAM.
what money? AMD got a great amount of $$ from some Arab Kingdom before dx11 gpus if you didn't know that yet lol, so yea they can afford it atm. ontopic i think its hd6xxx too and it looks like good response to Fermi and it'll win the single gpu crown again..
Neither ATi or Nvidia ever release new series of cards that quickly. It sure as hell isn't a 6xxx series ATi card. And it's obviously not Nvidia.
Could'nt it be a revamped prototype of a 5xxx series like a 5770? like the 4770 was? I know the situation is a bit different though.
It wouldnt be beyond the realms of possibility for them to switch though, especially considering all the problems they've had with 40nm yeilds from TSMC.

True, it was something about that TMSC was too problematic so they wanted to switch production of GPUs to Global Foundries when they were ready. But i also remember that they said that they will divide production between both companies. And that obiously isnt Fermi, nVidia explicity said that they will never work with Global Foundries because that would be like working with the enemy (GF is AMD, and AMD is ATi) or some nonsense like that... It would be nice if that was a 5xxx shrink. Like if the 5870 didn't OC like a beast, an 5870 on a 28nm production could reach nVidia in shader speed, like 1300Mhz on the core or something like that on AIR. Nevermind on H2O, hehe.
