Me too I always put aside an hour or so to properly read about new GPU's or CPU's from Hilbert. Especially if they use new architecture as they are always extremely in depth and a great read :)

Why would you want 3 fans where there could be more heat sink and 1 fan?

So you are saying that ref design cards have more heatsink on them than non-reference? Especially the Xtreme Gaming since is the current subject?

    So the below is more...

    ...than this?

Oh and it has 3 fans too on top! :p

Speaking about heatsinks, Gotten one of my gtx 970 to run @ 1625mhz and that is very insane speeds, and it runs less then 70C on full load. one of a few I think but I do it only for benches only, not for very long term, @ 1600mhz its very stable, on the other gpu, 1570mhz is very stable, anything more then that, no matter the voltage, I lose stability.

But still, anything over 1500mhz on a 970 is very fast, over 1600mhz is a different story.

Sorry for the off topic, back to on topic, Gigabyte Xtreme Windforce X3 FTW!!!

Same here man, my 970s run at 1554/7908 MHz from the day I got them ~1.5 years ago. And these clocks are 90% stable in games, there were some occasional crashes, but those were rare and it was the games that were incredibly sensitive to any OC on the GPUs. I could probably squeeze even more for benchmarks but I didn't want to.

Coming back to 1080, I'm more curious how gimped the 1070 is, if the price/performance is anywhere near what the 970 was at launch, I'll grab two. That or go single 1080 and get a "big" Pascal next year. Either way, I think I should sell my 970s now, should get a decent price for them still.

Probably going to get 3 windforce 1080's, First time for tri, first time for anything, :)

Give my 2 gtx 970's to my dad, Already given him my last system, then the gtx 690 on that system, I can put that with the older 6 core amd thuban, 990fx setup to my niece.

The Thuban might be ancient now but it ran mgsV: TPP prettie darn smooth with a gtx 690 overclocked, @ 1400p+, ran very very smooth, I was surprised myself.

I don't know man, 3x1080 will be a huge pain in the ass. I myself had 3 generations of 2way SLI cards, but will go single 1080 and eventually single big Pascal next year.

SLI support is getting worse and worse lately, and apparently with DX12 it will be even less supported, since it will all be in the hands of the developers. And this is 2way, 3way will be even worse. :(

SLI support = Calling nvidia inspector = Nvidia's best friend..... :)

Can't wait for benches first and foremost, I ain't going to do anything until I see a complete review from any source but I am more looking into Hilbert's review first then anything else at this moment.

I might have a problem running 3 because of my 2 m.2 samsung 950's as they are already x4 pci-e, despite each of my cpu is 40 cpu lanes, more then enough to cover the bandwidth that I need, for example, If I put the m.2 950 with the m.2 converter card in the second slot, the first pci-e X16 slot turns into 8X or I think it becomes nullified/can not be used, I have to do research on this again but I remember looking this stuff up once before.

If I go with 3, I have to be damn sure that my m.2's wont effect it, I think it will, but have to do more research on this.

More then likely 2 at this moment, but looking into 3, and can't wait to bench them myself...

I was reading that if your using a single m.2 card in the m.2 slot of the motherboard, some sata ports becomes unusable, sorry for the kind of off topic...

Looks like a 3 slot design from Gigabyte.

That would seem unlikely given that the existing 2 slot windforce can handle 450W.

Ok, I'm gonna hazard a guess that this one is going to cost more than founders edition.

You can bet, and so will the MSI Lightning (likely Gaming as well), ASUS ROG etc. etc.
