I just got it today and it's making this really weird noise at load, seems like it's pretty common, should i RMA or keep it?

I suppose that your card is one of the reference design ones.

If so, and unless you plan to try for one that isn't a reference design, keep it.

My Sapphire card makes similar noises.

(My eVGA nVidia GTX 480 also sang a little at full load.)

It's a custom card, although other non-reference cards suffer from this issue too.

I emailed Gigabyte, let's just wait and see...

Mine did it really badly at first but then settled down, besides the fan is so loud when overclocking the card i'm suprised you can hear it !!!
(The Gigabyte windforce is a reference pcb layout, but with better components apparently)

I have just got a 2nd 7970 a reference Sapphire one (just fitted an Accelero Xtreme cooler), it does it aswell - the whining that is.

Sending the Gigabyte back - great card, but the Sapphire card oc's just as well and was £100 cheaper :) and with an Accelero cooler is cooler & quiter

I got that **** on my Sapphire 7970.. Still haven't got around to send it back. Gigabyte 7970 OC Windforce seems fine so far.
