    Hellow Gurus,

I'm planing to upgrade my VGA from FX 5700le 256 mb 128 bit 420/430 (will sell for 115$) to a GF 6600 non GT (180$) cos I don't have much money.... and I have some questions about 6600 card.

    1. Is it worth to buy a 256 mb version, I always play at 1024*768 resolution, so will it make any difference?

    2. can you post your 6600 overclock results, I wanna find out which brand card is the best overclocker...as I know default is 300/500 and it overclocks to 500/600 something like that :)

    3. What setting do u use in games? resolution, details? for example let take BF2, doom3 and other popular games..

    Thanks in advance.... :)

    hey .. isn't the 6600GT priced around 190$ ??? or what about the new x800gt ??

anyway .. the 6600 is a very good card .. considering its price ... and make sure u get the 256mb ver. .....

my friend has a 6600 clocked at 550/615 ... and i've seen people go even further with proper cooling ...

and he plays almost all games at 1280*1024,maxed settings and yet manages playable fps ...

u seem to be in the same position than me , 6800+ are over 300$ in my country so i bought a MSI 6600 256 mb Pci-e (see my specs)
the core can be overclocked to 500 but the memory only to 550 ( i didn't try to overclock it much coz i am afraid to fry the mem ( i can know the temps on the core after i flashed the bios but the mem no and they don't have heatsinks)
    3dmark05 stock 2100
    3dmark05 oc 2900
i've heard Asus and MSI have a 6600 with GDDR3 mem the same used on the GT but don't know the price yet..

I've noticed that PCI-E card are cheaper than AGP.
I found some kind of GeForce DAYTONA 6600 256 mb for 140$, by the way same brand 128 mb version is 137$ :) lol
also Sparkle is rather cheap, Prolink PixelView, club 3d...Which brand from THOSE is the best? if i'm right all those 6600 has 4ns ram, and 8 pipelines. If it possible to unlock some pipes?

dude you don't have pci-e so don't buy one ;). You'll have to stick with agp.
I think you should go for a 256 mb version, cause it's only a bit more expensive. And no pipelines unlockable, but a core wich is oc-able from like 300 to 500+. For a brand i would not get a club3d. If it's true what Wollyka said i would get an Asus or Msi. If that's not true i'd get xfx

I know, pci-e is better, but I can' t chage my mobo now :) just repaired my car so no money left :)

P.s those 6600 GDRR3 price is practicaly the same as 6600GT so whatever I'l take CLUB3D 256 MB 128 bit and cheack it out, I think for a year it''ll be ok, then i'll change it :)

P.S. i'll post my bench results when i'll buy a card...

Hello there Shaman391.. u created this thread that I was about to create.. eheh.. it doesn't matter anyway..

Well.. I think we can share something.. I'm using the Leadtek A6600 but with 128MB only.. I'm from Malaysia so it does cost me a lot to get one.. the 6600GT is about RM800.. so USD$ is about 200 or less.. but the standard is RM500/+ @ USD$150/-.. I just bought it 5 days ago and it works well for now.. using the Starstorm modified driver 77.76.. for now I'm satisfy with it performances although I'm planning to OC it more..

For now, I've increased the mem to 350/680 and it runs smooth without any prob.. cooled by it's stock fan.. I play the GTA:SA @ 1024*768 / 2AA / full draw distance (heh, is that the correct one?).. can say.. at the high setting with no prob at all.. just the GTA:SA isn't patched yet.. so it does crash..

I'd done the benchmarking but using the old 3DMARK01 SE.. heheh.. my score? 10k++.. well.. I have to get the Zalman liquid cooler asap.. my room is hot.. 29deg++ so.. get some ice man..

    p/s :: sorry.. my eng isn't good..

as you see from my specs i have the card in question....
    core : 560
    Mem : 550

    Doom3,BF2,FarCry : All at max. settings (High quality in Doom3 & Veryhigh in BF2,FarCry) @ 1280x1024 with 4AA !! and min. is 22 fps ! :)
though my ram helps a lot in BF2

i think the 6800 256mb is much better

oc'ing capability is there, look at my sys specs...i play fear maxxed out and avg around 60fps.
in doom3 i get 60fps avg, and bf2 i get 40-55 runnin everythin at high and with 4x AA

wow all you made really happy :D i CAN'T wait to sell my 5700le 256 mb and buy 6600 256 mb :) by the way I have tweaked alot my FX and it's not so bad, but like everyone says FX series are CRAP, also there are a lot of new feautures in 6 series :) I found Club3D 6600 256 mb 128 bit for 160 $ it one of the cheapest in my place... I'm not talking about Leadtech or Gigabyte... :)

I wouldnt recommend the 6600 non gt. It's only a bit faster compared to a 9600XT. Save some money and go for the 6600gt/6800!

Look for benchmarks. I very much doubt there's a difference between 128 and 256MB on that card. You could save some money this way...
