    Hi,
Is there any reason people are interested in buying my steam account ?
I've had a couple of people message me wanting it.
It's an old account from 2006 but doesn't have anything of any value on it,Only 2 purchases I can think of, the Orange Box + GTA5.
Maybe it's because of the name on the account ?

    Anyone got any clues ?

Some people want to have a steam ID will less digits. They think it makes their ePenis larger because they can claim that "they're old-school." Accounts created when Steam was a new thing have less digits.

Old accounts with legitimate purchases are probably higher rated for trust factor for CS GO as well, so if you can buy one for cheap you'll get less suspicious account for matchmaking.

my nephew told me several times that he is willing to pay me, and i quote - "a lot of money!" for my Steam account. i told him that my Steam account is worth much more than 10 dollars, but im willing to buy him some games as a gift for his fresh 2020 account. he is a good kid :)

youngsters these days are interested in cool\short-numbered\early years accounts, that includes also Bnet accounts.

i have zero understanding of why those things are bothering them.

It isn't even tip of the iceberg lmao, there are people buying Discord accounts with lower numbers or "early supporter" badges.

    Imagine.

Are steam community id's seen as valuable, maybe it's that. It's just my first name.

You can change your profile name whenever you want, so no. If you mean your username (the one you use to log into Steam), then that's also a no, since it's not visible to anyone but you.

    @Zooke

I guess if you don't want random messages just set your account profile page to private.

I just wondered if there was any actual value in these things, or if it was a simple scam.

As I said, there's a market for old Steam accounts. You can use this site to check how many digits the legacy Steam ID has:

    http://whatsmysteamid.azurewebsites.net

If the "Legacy Steam ID" is for example STEAM_1:1:XXXXXXX where "X" is any digit, then that would be a 7-digit ID.

There's people out there who want to get an account with less than 8 digits. The less digits, the more money people are willing to pay for it. Don't ask me how much they're willing to pay. I have no idea... I only know there's people who do want those accounts.

Edit: Don't get scammed though. There's people who want those accounts and are willing to scam people for them.

Remember Steam was originally just DRM for Half Life 2 basically?
    Hard to picture it anymore.
