I don't think that Windows and Catalyst should say that I have a "AMD Radeon HD 6900 series" graphics card. With other systems I've had, both Catalyst and Windows will specifically name the exact card. Shouldn't it say that I have this card: HIS 6970 Fan Turbo 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2xDVI/HDMI/2xMini DP? This situation leads me to believe that I do not have the most optimum driver for my graphics card. I'm using Catalyst 11.10, that I directly downloaded from the HIS site. Any information and suggestions are very welcome. Something seems fishy. Thanks.
This is completely normal for 6xxx series cards. Unless you're having performance issues while gaming 11.10 should work just fine. Drivers from manufacturers won't be any different than the drivers you find here.
As above, its normal, as the 6970 is part of the 6900 series of cards, and welcome to the fold Zhenon
