I have download the drivers from guru3d.com and installed them just fine...
Will play some games now to see how they run but anyway I have already noticed
that DV is broken once more... (0%, 33%, 66% etc)
    Running XP SP3 x86 here...

No software is fully optimised because of a thing called scaling.

These drivers have to work across 5 generations of NVIDIA Cards, running hundreds of different applications on thousands of different hardware setups.

The software/games themselves that are written to run on these cards are written for an insane number of combinations of different hardware. Not to mention conflicts with other installed software, drivers, OS updates (maybe something works in SP1, but not SP2 etc.).

You're always going to get conflicts, errors and downright ****ups. And all companies tweak and cheat to try and get high scores on benchmarks.

And if they had the ability to release a working driver with all these 180.xx features before now, don't you think they would have? Back when they shat themselves after seeing the 4870 come out?

NVIDIA can be terrible, but no worse than any other company. They didn't DISABLE any features on your graphics card, as you put it, they just didn't have the software support for it (like physX, unlocked on the 8800s after the software side was completed).

They working great for me.. Looks really good on Vista 32 bit and a BFG 9800GTX OCX and gained 160+ on Vantage. XP 32bit looks pretty good using a XFX 8600GT 512mb card.

Whats up with the different Vantage results in later driver sets; 177.79=P11750, 178.13=P11350, 178.15=P11750, 178.24=P11350

Not that Vantage matter mutch, but kinda odd that every time we get an official driver, Vantage scores drop. Every official driver I've tested is about P11350, while every other unofficial driver boost the score 400 points.

2 driverteams where one is official, and the other just a benchteam or what?

Not tested it in other games then COD4, not the fastest there either, but ok I suppose..
Kinda unfortunate to tweak the PC to it's maximum, just to see it dissapear every other driver IMHO.

    Whine end............

No increase in vantage, but in both vantage and crysis, I get artifacts and random crashes between 82c & 86c before the fan begins to ramp up. Works fine with fan at 100%, but with 178.15, I didn't have those problems and I ran benches and games with auto fan.

I consider these drivers a SHAM because of NVIDIA's sneaking around playing with those filtering and faking performance improvements, I'm sticking to the 178.13 officials, they are working fine - also if you are using 178.13 or 178.15, there is no reason in the world why you would want to install 178.24 - do yourself a favour and stick to .15 and wait for something better to be released - NVIDIA needs to get their head out of their arse and start better testing those drivers. Mind you that is the price to pay for unified drivers - you get more frequent updates, but might not what you expect, compared to a single driver for a specific card.

SO what will NVIDIA come up with next ? 30% improvements ! There is more to drivers than just testing with Vantage and 3DMark people - Let's try and go for real world applications and games here - because honestly I'm beginning to wonder if NVIDIA is optimizing those drivers for benchmarks or for games........ :D

Well, these are not optimized for benchmarks, as they are slower then 178.15 etc... Unfortunately, they are not making up for it in my games by being slower there aswell, however it's so small difference that I'll hang on to them unless problems appear down the line....

These are not exactly the "Big Bang" some of us are waiting for, more like a "diet" or a "light" version...
There are surely room for improvements in performance for GTX260/280, since it's so "new". Performance on my previous GPU's from NV has improved a great deal over time, so hoping is allowed...

Anybody tried them with Warhammer Online? I am running the 178.15's. Keep the .15's or upgrade? I mostly play Warhammer and COD4.

Use Nvideas anialiasing in control panel and not with the ingame settings to fix the problem.
