This should help. My cost at 20cents for 750w running 6hrs/day is roughly 330usd. For the card.

    Heavy.

I mentioned this last year. That when both GPU makers competition heats up, they will pull out all stops to get ahead and that means power consumption be damned. Architectural improvements are not as decisive as brute force to achieve top spot. Nvidia is no longer facing Vega or Polaris. They are very wary of RDNA 3 and what it may be capable of.

anyone who buys this doesn't mind an open loop. and it could be released only as a w/c card w/ or w/o a rad. a thick copper 360 can deal with 500 watts

Not sure if this is just a halo product to show raw gpu power or some kind of idea to force the miners to buy crpto cards instead as I'm sure the cards for mining built using similar silicon will consume at least half this power. Maybe a last hurrah before the gpu follows the cpu and has a chiplet design with mutiprocessors?

omfg, I was seriously going to get a 4090 but the idea that my 1000W PSU wont be enough or will be pushed to it's limit and all the heat that the GPU will generate is making me think twice.

This is supposed to be on TSMC's 5nm, right? While I would expect nearly double the performance, I don't expect double the wattage. I thought 450W was stupid, but this is so power hungry that it actually makes Nvidia's architecture look bad.

A chiplet design isn't going to save this. It took 3 slots to cool the 3090 and that has a gargantuan die. I don't think a 4th slot is going to compensate for nearly doubling the heat output, and I don't think people are going to want a GPU that chonky. A liquid cooler is likely going to be a requirement, but that won't work well for long once the water becomes heat soaked.

The better question is: how many instances of Crysis can it run?

If this becomes the norm I'm giving up PC gaming, or switching to AMD or Intel if they're more efficient. This is like running an electric stove or oven almost

    Fake rumour,

the new power connector is 600w rated only
the pcie slot only provides 66w of 12v

    You can't get 750w out of 600+66

I already have open loop with two 360x45 Rads and 6x Noctua NF-A12x25 fans, at 28C room temp I'm certain my loop can't handle 700W TGP GPU without killing the pump due to high water temp. That and the thermal density of a 5nm chip using 500W is just too high for ambient water to cool effectively.

I thought I've heard rumours that a card might have 2 of those new power connectors, I don't remember the source so don't quote me. Either way I wouldn't expect a 750W card, that'd be insanity, even my 1KW PSU wouldn't be enough for my system if I use a 750W abomination of a GPU.

My 3800x and 6900xt are both undervolted to produce 60fps at 4k on my 60hz 32" monitor, i wouldn't be surprised if my total energy consumption is lower than when i had a 1080Ti overclocked and over volted trying to achieve that same 60fps.

Maybe in 1080p in 4K the whole PC will burn like a candle.

I was trying to stay at 200W max. With the RX 6800 I ended up going with 250W.
    750W is a lot.
