This is how I think about the situation, too. 10GB isn't enough, 24GB is too much, for my needs anyway, with nothing in between except the possibility of an AIB 20GB 3080 at a hugely inflated price. It's all so unappealing but what's the alternative, wait another 4-6 months for a possible 3080ti, or see what AMD does. AMD by the way have shown recently they're willing to directly match Nvidia on VRAM allocation now, see the 5600XT, which imo should have launched with 8GB.

Imagine 3090 as the new 2080ti. That means a 3080 super will come next year with 20 gb vram. If that happens, I will quit pc gaming unless amd delivers. I will not work a month's salary for each computer component hardware to justify CEOs and investors dreams of gold. Lately to aquire a higher end gaming rig for some countries, you must work a half year to save easy money for a true seamless purchase.

Pretty sure Nvidia knows what they are doing with vram usage. The 10gb on the 3080 will be enough. The last thing they need is a high end card that falls flat to 16gb big Navi due to vram. Not going to happen. We know the masses will cry when they see more vram being allocated (not necessarily used) to 16-gb and 24-gb cards in games. Nvidia will not risk a PR disaster when any game chokes due to lack of vram. The 3080 I believe is around 20-30% faster than the 2080ti (according to TS extreme leak) and will go up against big Navi. The 3090 is a new tier above that.

10GB might be enough for users who like to play at high refresh 1440p but for those of us who choose 4K 10GB will absolutely not be enough going forward for next gen games with ever increasing texture demands and RTX features. RT needs more VRAM, DirectX 12 needs more VRAM.

We will know when the 10gb card goes up against 16gb big Navi. Both will be 4k cards. Also will be interesting when AIBs make the 20gb versions of the 3080 (which will happen for marketing reasons imo). I cant wait when its compared to the 10gb in reviews.

When considering the potential disparity between the cards it's important to consider the games being tested, of course, and what features are being used.

To me Nvidia learned fast what AMD did with Intel and this 3090 is the pure fear of lost the crow of has the best GPU of the market.... (not see a 3080ti confirm it)
The real fight will be the Big Navi and 3080TI.... AMD is very strong with money in house... this will be very nice to see what this cards will do and the prices they will cost...
This year will have a fantastic end inst? With this new GPUs and the new Ryzen 4XXX series we will get a big jump in the PC performance space...

    There is no 3080 Ti.
Not a single leak or picture anywhere showing a "Ti" card with this generation.

I think they are planning to drop Ti completely, and use Super from now on for refreshes.

The 24GB of GDDR6X will be the excuse for the outrageous price starting point. In terms of capacity's diferrence against all others, hence the price disparity.

Also, about the new Radeons that might "suprise" us, I don't believe this not for one second. AMD has surmounts of place to cover.

From my excellet by all accounts 1660 Super, I'd like to go 3060 ~300 euros unless they introduce later a more mild lineup like 2000 series and afterwads the 16 series.

Got my 1660 Super with Dual Fan only 209 euros. Best purchase ever except my 2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2.

Im afraid that they going to play us, what they will do is release 3080 and 3090 and the 3090 wont be xx80Ti variant but new TITAN.
People will assume that this is, the 3090 is the xx80Ti card will start buying it [whoever can and on the edge]
Then in 2-3 months: 3080Ti comes out [Lets not forget that the xx80Ti card was always late coming, I remember buying 1080 as stop gap before 1080ti came out, same with 980ti and 780ti, only 2080Ti was day one card]

Pretty sure there will be slightly cut down version of the 3090 (with 12gb). Whether they will call it 3080ti or Super who knows, but the (rumored) price gap between the 3080 and 3090 is just too big to go unfilled. Logic would have it as 3080ti since the xx80ti was always associated with the iconic top gaming card. The 3090 imo is a new tier that goes above that.
