https://www.anandtech.com/show/13796/nvidia-announces-geforce-rtx-2060-349-dollars-january-15th Yeah it's not looking good.
Something must be wrong with me, doesnt seem that bad in the current stack/market, at its target resolution, as fast or near as 1070 TI, and Vega's, both that atm cost more... Forgot to add, my main negative would be a 6GB part at $350 in 2019, may be fine, but doesnt seem like it will still be hanging in there 18 months later. Of course as a x60 part, its not a $250 "mainstream" card and if you had a FE 1070 way back in the summer 2016 (???) for $350 ish (???) we haven't really gotten much improvement for your money (exl so many giga-rays)
Yeah 6GB is not very future proof, but unfortunately Nvidia did not have any room to operate with. RTX 2060 has cut down version of TU106, which means 192bit memory bus, thus space for only 6 memory modules, 1GB or 2GB... 6/12GB G6. I guess we will see the same schema for at least one more generation, since it is not very likely that Nvidia will move from 11GB to 22GB (or from 12 to 24), from 8GB to 16GB and from 6GB to 12GB anytime soon... With Titan yes, we are there, but at which cost?
That's precisely the problem. Like the other RTX cards, it hardly moves the needle in terms of value per dollar. The ideal scenario for a new GPU series is to provide significant improvements at the same price point (e.g., 40%+ performance at the same price), not the same performance for a bit less. It's the same reason why Intel was criticized for releasing mediocre improvements year after year. If the RTX 2060 was released at the same price as the GTX 1060 then it would have been met with universal acclaim. The price completely spoils it. And AFAIK, Sapphire slashed Vega prices upon the launch of the 2060 - $379 for 64 and $329 for 56.
unfortunately, this 2060 will only provide 99 fps at 1440p ultra in Battlefield 1, not enough for 144hz setups i guess.. https://www.anandtech.com/show/13762/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-founders-edition-6gb-review/4
But, but... Jensen Huang said @ CES 2019: "RTX 2060... higher performance than a 1080ti", so it must be truth, it just works!
After reading more reviews I will say the performance is pretty good, its basically on par with a 1070Ti. However as a mid-range card it is over priced, and ray tracing still hasn't proven to be a feature worth investing in at this point in my opinion.
If rtx 2060 could nvlink sli it would be equal or faster than 2080ti for almost half of the total price. I insist it is priced correctly. Everyone bashing, wait rtx 2050 or rumored gtx 11 series.
I'm just waiting out the entire 20-series. Let the early adopters test RTX, and I'll buy the 30-series on 7nm when the technology has matured. Maybe Navi will also be out then as well, hopefully in a form that will provide real competition and force prices lower.
Prices won't change, unless Nvidia always had planned non ray tracing cards. I would like to know how are their shareholders feeling about all this situation. They could have avoid strange situations if gtx 11 series were launched at the same time. I would fire the guy who thought of this trickery. Anyway, rtx 30 series seems promising. Any big jump from rtx 2080/2080ti, will be a killer gpu!
FYI, I am an Nvidia shareholder. In general, I've been disappointed with the company of late - ever since it became clear that Huang lied about the mining situation and the stock lost half its value. As for Turing, I think it was rushed out and underwhelming. IMO, it would have been better had they released a much faster card for traditional rendering (something like the rumored 11 series) along with a more powerful external card for RTX (with plans to eventually merge the two when 7nm matured). I don't like the idea of them releasing a 11-series at this time, especially if they want to accelerate RTX adoption.
This. Buying used gtx 10 series and their sellers moving to rtx 20 series seems more profitable and also helping the RTX features adoption. Unless there are defective rtx units and they are pushing them out as gtx series. Time will tell.
Lmao, he did a mistake..Or you think he believed that RTX2060 would be faster than RTX2080(GTX1080Ti performance) ?
