"This is GeForce Hot Fix driver version 397.55 that addresses the following:

    - After driver installation, Device Manager may report Code 43 error on a few GTX 1060 cards models."

Well I just had this happen on GTX 980 Ti on 397.40 (Vulkan beta) driver. So trying these now.

wtf is wrong with the installation if you cancel the installation it deletes all the files, I can't install what I want and delete the ones I don't want........... freaking nvidia. how can we extract the folders properly from the EXE file?

Well I guess Winrar is the best

Its even worse if it litters your drive with useless files even after the installation finished. Geez get over yourself. Or get creative. Why not copy the files out while the installer is still open, instead of closing it first?

Worst driver ever and the first one that causes massive problems on my Win 7 x64 system. Mouse lags, freezes etc. I have never got any problems with Nvidia drivers before. 397.54 Vulkan driver fixed all the mess.

I was going to try these until I saw this. I don't know what to believe anymore. I've already tried the vulkan betas and the whql both giving me worse fps. I saw one comment about these being better then another right now saying they are worse but honestly I'm kind of tired of trying the 397 drivers. Going to wait until the next set. In conclusion, I'm almost certain without even trying these that they are junk.

can only tell you what i experience can't i? was over 100 point drop. i find the vulkan ones perform better to be honest, specifically the .40 ones.

@tensai28 More than likely those Vulkan drivers will perform better and benchmark scores should return to where you need them.I'm trying to learn the driver, one night of testing isn't going to give enough info.So if you really need that performance back asap, then you should try them.
A set between the transition of "advancing" is no surprise they're performing so well.

I tested a few regulars and its somewhat on par with 397.40VK driver,

    about 3dmark firestrike gpu score,
In my case it was 2x ~ 19800, when I reboot and changed cpuv for 0.003v, its back to 20200 like a few older drivers.

3dmark api test, Single Threaded - ST was still 3K lower then usual, guess that's now a RS4 thing.

This hotfix seems not happy running with NVGA Precision XOC / Win 7 64x

The PC is running very slow as soon as Precision XOC has started (v 6.2.3).

Killing Precision XOC is not enough, have to reboot to get the PC speed back to normal...

All was OK with previous NVIDIA drivers version.

I noticed the lags and freezes as well with Win 7 x64. I've reverted back to the Nvidia 397.40 Vulkan (beta) driver which is pretty good.

Will soon try today's Vulkan 397.54 beta developers driver released today.

Yeah...they just started with that....So it appears the new standard install method (for other than simple default or custom clean installs via the installer) will now be to extract the EXE to a folder, do whatever changes you want, then run the installer.

Yeah I get what you are saying just my point is; everyone's reports are inconsistent and the conclusion I'm drawing for these drivers at least is they are a mixed bag. Some people are getting great experiences with 397 drivers and some aren't. I seem to be one of the people who isn't so in my case, they are crap. So I'm gonna stick to 391.35 and not test these based on my experience with other 397 drivers and comments here.
Like I said in the post that you quoted, I already tried the Vulkan betas. I never cared much for benchmarks. It's the fact that I was getting weird fps drops that I wasn't on previous drivers.

well i left final fantasy xv + texture pack and other 4 heavy games donwloading while i was sleeping and when i returned i found my computer no more stuck or freeze so probably that was an issue by the drivers being disconnected, uninstalled or something like it says.
