nvidia make good game drivers but at time goes by there is more junk getting bundled with the drivers (ie) the 3d stuff, sheild junk and streamer service , i think they should make that stuff a seperate download from the drivers because lot people dont have a sheild or want stream on twitch, nvidia need to think about all customers not just youtubers and twitch, right now you can untick the junk thank god but if nvidia make that junk mandatory i would not buy a new gpu from them

Tough job to do for one man. They need multiple people coordinating on this stuff.
Most of that stuff IS optional.:3eyes: and for the things that aren't optional in installation, it's not hard to disable services and stuff.

Yeah you're right, and as regards all the junk, as posted earlier
its easy to remove it all by extracting the driver first and removing all the folders you dont need (except i go one step further than that screenshot and delete Update.Core folder aswell) , then clicking the setup.exe to install.

All you are left with is Driver install and Physx install from the installer.

yep, i realized later the update.core folder is not needed either, but no worries, even with it intact, it won't install the backend service.

I've reinstalled my OS, reinstalled the driver again, and wow, now i have multiple start-up items...WTF ?!?

I had only one, named Nvidia Backend...

And no, windows didn't installed the driver. I've installed it manually. Only driver and physx.

It's only one item, it launches these three however by itself.

I have a feeling that this is either in preparation for GFE driver updates or they've decided to actually include this functionality into the driver itself and not require the GFE for updates.

Its GFE taking over. The drivers will have DRM, so we can install them only within GFE. Then we will have tons of services running with NVIDIA name, and start-up items galore. Thanks nvidia for the future. No more only driver, they treat us like noobs...

Does this confirm that the GPU frame buffer memory is treated as external storage? I see bad security implication to this.

It never crossed your mind that one could also misclick by accident when trying to eject another device even if they read things? Think of people that aren't gifted with a steady hand be it because of age, ilness, injuries or otherwise. There are also bugs that can hit you where the mouse pointer isn't synchronized and you see it in a slightly different position, etc.. So yeah, it's a good thing they fixed it in my book.
