The most I ever spent on a GFX card was £474 a few years back on a XFX 8800 Ultra XXX OC.
It was the fastest card out at the time, but I vowed then that i'd never spend that much on a GFX card again.

If/when the 780 drops to this price or below i'll have one, if not.... roll on AMD next offering.

Considering finally selling off my 580s for a 780. Probably will because less heat/power and 100% performance because of no reliance on sli optimization. Removing microstutter would be nice also. The Evga superclocked could be good because it can be OC'd to titan speeds AFAIK.

I'm guessing Maxwell will be a year from now, maybe a month or two less than that.

    Just thinking out loud. ;p

This 780 could really force the price of 2nd hand Titans to come down quite a bit especially if the Titan is only 10% faster.
Most people will go with the cheaper 780 which may cause the sale of second hand Titans alittle more difficult.

Because it's too expensive for me...duh. 760/Ti should be fine.
And because upgrading only one month before Haswell would be dumb.

Yet you choose to go around sniveling about clearly superior hardware being only minimal upgrade?

780 SLI is too expensive for me

    SAY IT ^^

NZ$1145 is the cheapest ive seen in my country so far, which is about what the 580 cost on release so not really a surprise tbh. Got both my 580s for nz800 each.

Though i ideal test situations like this review,
    Metro LL @ 1200p:
    1 780 gets at 44 fps
    1 580 gets 25 fps

Thats close to double, but theres a generation between the 580 and 780 so i still dont feel its worth the cash just yet, will wait for maxwell unless i see a good deal.

    My way of thinking anyway.

I feel sorry for them. Its pretty f*cking ridiculous really considering a bit of an overclock and you get 100% titan performance. Not far off 2x the price for some extra vram... gg.

It's not just titan owners, 580 at launch £400, 680 at launch £400, 780 at launch +£500, the titan was the first with the new pricing is all.

Market forces lads, they release it at a price that makes it profitable for them, the balance between price Vs Units selling. If they don't sell too well then they will drop the price, if they sell very well then don't be surprised to see a price hike. Its the way of the commercial world.

True, but i don't see 100$ or £ being shaved off the 780 until long after launch. Why would it? It's in it's own price bracket at 650$. If it goes down to 500 i'll be selling and getting two lol.

Yes i agree it has a place and it was needed, for example an OCed 680 will just about do the more demanding games at 1080 60fps, however add AA into the equasion and then the 780 is needed,. or perhaps even titan if you go full blown everything max.

Looks like i hit the nerve i was aiming for hahaha.
Ok fair enough you cant afford it but a 460 is really scraping the barrel, I mean one of my old 295's would blow that clean out of the water for performance and thats an old 200 series GPU!

And yes a 780 is a minimal upgrade for me, it performs less than a Titan and a Titan performs less than a 690 for performance. Even the 760 you talk about getting is a POS in my opinion i wouldnt waste my time with it.

780 sli is too expensive for me? If anything its too cheap because i had 2x690's at one point and they cost much more than 2x780s.

There you go chew on that because its the closest your ever gonna get to a premium GPU(s).

Buying it after 2 sleepless nights is pretty much the definition of "too expensive"
