    GeForce GTX 685 (GK110) Features 4GB 512-bit Memory, 25% Faster than GTX 680

looks interesting, not sure if 685 is a logical name as previous 285 was a minor improvement over the 280; regardless sure looks like a beast specs wise. :nerd:

looks real interesting, trying to wait for maxwell, if I cant 2 of these would be monster no doubt. very enticing to 580 owners imo

And then we gonna have to wait another 3 months for an Arctic Cooler.

Ill go with a 680 4GB as soon as they are out :p

Can wait and wait and wait, but then you never gonna upgrade. After a month PC Hardware is old anyways.

true, been on 580`s since dec 2010, am itching to upgrade but held off.
edit this will be a much more of an upgrade than a 480 to a 580 where most of the performance increase was from a higher gpu clock, faster ram and 32 shaders

You gonna have to have a lot of patience then , because there is a severe shortage of 28nm.

Highely unlikeky will see a GK110 this year seeing they can't even supply enough for the 680.

Damn you, Nvidia. Why must you constantly dangle the sweet graphical carrot and force me to spend my Top Ramen fund?

33% more CUDA cores and twice the memory bus size yet only 20-25% faster than the GTX 680? Either I'm missing something or it just doesn't add up... :3eyes:

    *EDIT*
I guess the GPU and memory clocks could be lower than the GTX 680. 6 GHz memory on a 512-bit bus would be difficult surely?

That's their rough estimate I am hoping for more than that.

    gk110 will be 85-90% faster than gtx580 and 45-50% faster than gtx680...

so it couldn't be named "685"...i hate these "info" packets from unknown sources...gtx 7XX...

Known?! Since when rumors became facts, and 2304 is 50% more.

Still, I don't know why everyone is fixated on 2304. The more rational number is 2048, 33% more, just like the difference between GF110 and GF114.

25% increase in performance also seems quite reasonable, judging from 580 vs. 560 Ti.

same generation, same architecture, so unless nvidia plans to rebadge everything to the 700 series, it will most likely be badged the 685.

since when have more cores and faster memory buses always led to a linear performance improvement?

in the past, faster memory buses havent bumped up performance that much except for the handful of games that could take advantage of it.

heck, if you look at the amd side of things, the 5870 had twice as many shaders as the 4870, but it didnt end up being twice as fast (it was as fast as crossfired 4870s, but not 2x faster than a single 4870).

on the nvidia side of things, the gtx480 had twice as many cores compared to the gtx285, yet despite the higher clocks and faster memory performance of the gtx480, it only ended up about 46% faster in dx10 titles. the 570s stepped up the game here and managed to nearly double the performance of the gtx285, but that was on refreshed architecture one gen later.

kepler is still new, i wouldnt expect that big of a performance improvement.

I really fail to see how a 480 is 46% faster than a 285 and at the same time a 570 is. Nearly 100% faster than a 285. Those calculations are off somewhere there. The 480 and 570 are around the same performance give or take A Few %
