Last month SweClockers revealed the launch date to be between August 13 and August 19. Today they have reported the exact date and its August 16 same day as opening of GamesCom event held in Cologne...

I wonder how cheap this will be compared to the GTX 670 since only the bus width is changed. Weird though if you ask me. The difference of the 460-470 and 560-560Ti-570 were quite substantial (different clock speeds, memory configurations, CUDA, etc..), which is why the 460 and 560 garnered the appropriate title "sweet spot card" based on the performance-price ratio. I dont seem to see why the 660Ti only gets a reduced band width.

Is it possible to have 192bit memory with 2GB of memory..........

I'm curious if we will see a GTX 660 2WIN card with 4GB.

Nvidia make it happen and make it big, or no deal

It will likely have 24 ROPs then as they are linked to the memory bus, and probably between 80 and 112 texture units, most likely 96.

Around 15-20% slower than a 670 in most cases.

I disagree with a decision to cut the memory interface. A 256-bit with 1344 cores would have pretty close to the sweet-spot balance between core and memory, giving the 680/670 a hard time. It would be like a new 6600 GT.

1344 cores and 256bit is the GTX 670 :/ if there was no difference between the cards why would anybody ever buy the GTX 670? At the end of the day NV wants you to buy the cards with the biggest profit margin.

1344 cores and 192bit bus will still be **** hot performance!

Would that put it close the the GTX580 in performance?

Yes will be very close but will likely use half the power, have all the latest features and 512MB extra ram. So overall will be the perfect mid-range unit rivaling the previous top-end unit and winning in most cases.

The most important advantage, other than the power efficiency, will be the extra memory in my opinion. Also due to traditional improvements in memory compression brought about by new architectures the memory bandwidth should be sufficient to utilise the memory for the most part.

Needed to take thoses spec with care:

    - ROPs are tied to the memory controller bus..
    - 192bits memory controller are in general used for 1.5gb of memory not 2gb and by disabling a 64bits bus, it bring useless the 0,5gb more and will largely put down the overall efficiency of the memory.

    - With the change on spec annonced in the sweclockers article i dont see how they can resolve the 20W less by it. untill ofc the turbo clock work differently of the 670models ( who go as high of 1100mhz ( and not the 980mhz annonced ).. and this time this is really the max clock speed.

    - I dont see the interest for nvidia to use 670 full core with same amount of SP, same amount of memory, the same clock speed and ram speed and just laser cut the memory controller ( and possibly disable some ROP so ) .. for sell it 100$ less of the 670..

If thoses spec are true, i hope the 660 ( standard ) will be too from gk104 so.. cause i hope nobody will be fooled and buy a GK106 660 then ( performance should be really bad if Nvidia use a 670 as 660TI )

What is funny: like with the 670 Overclcoked retail cards as the Asus one, some AIB cards could end faster of the 680 directly out of the box, without even overclock them ...

I'm still waiting for the supposed full Kepler if there is going to be one. I can't justify the cost for 2 680/670 for the around 20% improvement on 1080p.

I agree, but I do not think we will see the full version till AMD has some thing better to offer.

Huum so you will need go to the lower GTX660 models .

Huum in 5 months so .. but i really doubt Nvidia will be able to release the GK110 at this time ( but who know i can be pleasantly surprised ).. If they plan to release the Tesla20 GK110 in the gamer market. or if they plan use a GK104 refresh ( GK114 ).

    Why would anyone?
you can get a faster card from the last gen for under that.

Not like the 660 will be that strong without smoke and mirrors
