Nice but they still wont have a card to compete with the 6990 though. Sucks that the green team have no dual core cards.

True but with the new silicon die they might be able to pull one off. Though it would come with a hefty price tag, TDP, and a huge ass cooler. We have yet to see how this GTX580 performs in terms of heat. They might have sorted it out.

MY GTX480 never exceeds 50*C now, actually come to think of it I have never seen it go higher than 46*C and thats hours after gaming. Using an Arctic Acellero Xtreme Plus cooler.

It doesn't have those fearsome-looking heatpipes coming out like the GTX 480

Seems they may have, seeing as there's no heatpipes visible.

Man, you're really trying to sell that cooler. ;)

Why wouldn't they just call this the 485? The naming schemes that ATI and Nvidia use these days are literally retarded.

It looks like a Cuda or tegra card to me, or maybe a 470, i cant believe they sorted out the heat problems, added more SPs and made it faster. there were some test with full fermi GPUs with all the SPs enabled and it was too hot and the performance increase was barely sufficient.

Simple: ATI made their "next-gen (ha)" cards so nvidia has to aswell, if they don't it won't sell aswell
