It would just make more sense to just drop the price for 1660ti.

These updated models exist due to yields maturing and they're just swapping the GPU inside of them.
Dropping the price isn't Nvidia like, they want to keep investors happy.

Oh Good god. I don't see the point other than possibly making the 1660 Ti obsolete. Way to go Nvidia Alienate your customers who purchased either a 1660 or a 1660 Ti recently inside a month or so.

So it's going to be better than the 1660Ti? Why not just call it 1770?

You ask that as though any of the marketing decisions Nvidia has made post-Pascal has made sense lol

I am just speculating at this point. So just take what I have just said with a grain of salt.

I don't see how it could be better than the Ti version if it's still just using 1408 shaders and 6gb of vram.

They will be "almost" equal. At average 3 or 5 or 7% slower. The question is the price. If it will be a bigger drop than 10-15% so, it is better and smarter choice however you like it. ;)

This product is really going to have to push the rest of the stack down in terms of pricing to make sense. Right now u can barely find the 1650 for $200 usd right now, old Polaris cards are where it's at right now both new and used.

Nvidia just needed something to compete with Navi 12/14 becouse regular 1650/1660 are still basically competing with 570/580.

I am glad that put down the extra cash for a 1660 for my 3rd gaming rig which is x58 vs a 1650 because of the great performance boost the 1660 has over the 1650 and 1050.

    And?
You gonna ask that when the next card/chip gets released as well?
There will always be a better/faster etc one.
Not even talking about the fact you could have easily gotten similar perf for less (1060/6gb 150-200) or even faster (1080), instead of non rtx.

Yeah already know this. Heck at the time those cards were released there were faster cards out there. Heck the offerings from AMD do pretty good against these cards as well.

the best budget card "in my opinion" is the RX480/580 .....AMD done good.... They keep hanging in there after all this time...Great deals on them too!
