GeForce GTX 1630 will launch on June 28

With 2nd hand gpu prices started to normalised, $150 for this card is rather tough to swallow, I think.

 

Its late and it sucks. Why does this card even exists...

 

best you can get for 150 atm is 1030 (pascal) with 2g ddr4

 

You can get rx6400

 

for 180 maybe

 

they are clearly monetizing on the market status. if/when prices become reasonable, it is more than sure that this card will be cheaper. Personally i would really like to buy it BUT IMO this card/chip is worth ~50$

 

For the smart asses out there who bought a F or X model CPU, hoping to save a buck... but then disaster strikes in GPU shortage land.

 

this card has no business existing, really.

even in the markets its probably targetted, you can pick up a T400 or T600.

 

Finally a 16K gaming capable gpu is coming out!

What makes this GPU even more confusing to me is how Intel now has decent iGPUs and AMD plans to have more iGPU options. So, this is coming at a time where there will be practically no market at all.
Add to the fact that GPU prices are finally coming down, where you spend a little bit more for something a lot better.

For anyone who just wants a display, the 1030 is still a good option.

 

^^^GT 1030 is a awesome card, i play Star Trek online at 1280/720p on high with just physics debris and dynamic lighting off, runs great and still looks great, and does not even reach its max 30 watts.

But once my steam deck arrives Nivida can stick their gpus were crypto miners don't shine. Lol

 

Finally. I can replace the failing 1030 I have in my micro streaming box with something a little more robust. Tried most of the low profile AMD cards and found them lacking at 4k 60/120hz. Most low profile AMD cards I have tried cannot decode MKV, HEVC, and H265 without turning the video into a sickening green and pink mess with HDR on. Same video with the 1030 and it is beautiful. Do not have the issue with my 6900 XTX though so it seems to be a issue isolated to the budget AMD GPUs. I will wait till they are under $100 to buy one though. $150 is not worth it. If I turn the volume up I can drown out the sound of the fan on the card (had to swap it out as the OEM fan locked up).

 

Cuz NVidia needs something to compete with Intel's Arc A-series if it ever gets a world-wide release?
