Did you try the new LAV filter DX11 render instead of CUVID or DXVA2?

Yeah, same issue, doesn't matter what you select in LAV Video.

Same here. Doesn't matter if video gets "H/W" or not.
    MPC-HC (64-bit) 1.7.13

Someone please explain to me how doom 2016 can have hdr?

In fact I am just confused in general. In Windows doom boots up using hdr if I enable hdr in Windows, this does not happen if I boot up killing floor for example.

    Why does this happen?

Thanks for saving me the time. I'm also on 388.84 as well. I figured as much based on previous drivers. Call me paranoid but I think the new cards right around the corner has something to do with this. Hasn't been a good driver in quite a while. The only thing new drivers seem to be bringing is lower performance, new issues and a higher driver number.

So far not bad, got a few extra fps in Rise of the Tomb Raider Benchark, Shadow of Mordor, and Arkham Knight. FF15 benchmark didn't change, but imo that looks like a last generation game so I don't care. Unreal4 Elemental Demo runs great, but it still freezes up at the very end when displaying the U4 logo. Right now they seem like keepers but I got a few more games to try out.

    Did you tried out LAVFilters-0.71.0-10.exe?

These drivers causes a delay when launching media player (mpc-be) to watch HEVC video both 1080p and 2160p. With 390.77 there is no delay when launching. Tried installing twice, same result.

You guys try using potplayer? Does that also have issues with these drivers?

No issues with these drivers so far. Tried RotTR in DX12 and I had zero issues. GoW4 same thing. No problems with Wolfenstein 2 either, in fact I had a performance increase in that game.

It's only when using GPU acceleration the issue occurs. Tried with LAV using nvidia cuvid with no difference. The delay / freeze is very noticeable compared to a "working" driver like 390.77.
It just annoys me since it used to be instant.

    Edit
No, I haven't tried with PotPlayer.

Woken the display from night's sleep (PC was on all this time) and the hitching is back on this driver too. So this hasn't been fixed either.

So you guys facing issues should try potplayer. It's better than MPC anyways.

There is a lag in MPC-BE when I click "PLAY" button or when I run new video from windows explorer and immediately move my cursor so mentioned above problem exist...
It's definitely Nvidia issue not MPC-BE because on 390.77 WHQL problem didn't exist...
