Strang that SFIV performance slower with a Geforce GTX 460 then the
Geforce GTX 260, when the Geforce GTX 460 is faster then a Geforce GTX
    260.

Do you have VSync disabled, some games let the menu's go to silly framerates like 2-3000fps, to the point that when i actually start the game, GPU temps go down.

AmigaWolf, yeah it is strange, maybe the drivers were just more optimized for the GTX260, or maybe i have something off somewhere, if i could be bothered moving the GTX260 from being a PhysX card to being the main GPU, i would, but i will wait until the next case cleaning to try that.

There IS a option in the new drivers "Clean Install" it removes the old ones and then install the new ones (you need to select "Custom") !

Double lol as it's not necessary for the NV control panel, if you disable the Nvidia driver helper service the control panel still works.
So it's probably got nothing to do with profiles, so you're wrong.

Why is the Nvidia driver helper service necessary exactly, I always used to disable it but after this new exe I'm starting to wonder ... ?

    Anyone ?

ok.. so why didnt you use triple lol, it wasn't funny enough? :D

yea you can disable nvidia helper, i did that with 258.96 in winxp, apparently it speeds up log off, although i didnt notice a thing it was fast enough.

and btw; nvidia helper service is not NvXDSync!

so if you disable this NvXDSync service you can't access nvcpl, profiles dont work, etc.. and i talked about this nvxdsync service all along.

Got a repeating ctd in Wolfenstein with these on a level heavily laden with enemies in a confined space, yet reverting back to whql 258.96 cured it...

Absolutely (again, at least for me).

The two major problems I had with 258.x (and the oddball 259.whatever from windowsupdate) was every now and then just running Media Player Classic Home Cinema with a video would cause a display driver crash-recover. And in most of my games, there would be a slight "pause-jerk" when panning around the view.

With 260.63, it never crash-recovered using MPC-HC, and it was incredibly smoother in my games. I did have only one crash-recover in a game (which then locked up the system - was in Team Fortress 2, always seems to be the koth-nucleus map whenever I had previous drivers crash that game). But now 260.89 takes the prize as best ever for me since going to Windows 7, no problem yet and I still can't believe the pause-jerk crap is gone which would sure annoy the hell out of me trying to spin around in something like UT3 e.g. lol

BUT...It's probably not perfect, will be doing more game testing of course.

Still blue boxes everywhere in Mass Effect 1, like with 260.63...

    @Amigawolf

i get those as you around 85-100 up to around 140 while playing games, but by our gpus its sw controlling/monitoring fault, by mine its because of sw controlled fan, by you its because of sw controlled idle states.. by sw i mean driver.

yea this is what it happens at that spike

now i've tested again while in game and got 15fps more, because it didn't lagged at that point.

kinda sucks because they look ok, except Cod waw feels kinda laggy around allot of foliage it use to be better,.. well i don't play it much but still when i do i expect it to run good:biggun: lol

He's referring to the new clean install option and often people 'brick' their pc using driver cleaners because they unwittingly delete the chipset drivers.

Update: So i Started DPC Latency Checker V1.2.0 and then run a TV
Show (Lie To Me) for 42min HD 1280x720P and the highest Latency i had
was 210, so i have no problems with my 2x Geforce GTX 460.

I hear that there are a lot of people had problems with sound with a Geforce
GTX 460, but i am lucky that i do not have that problem, and i am also happy
that my Movies and TV Shows runs very smooth with madVR in MPC HC, and
    some tweaking in madVR settings:)

Anyone tested these with CSS, I am getting a lot of tearing, more than usual, and a little stutter. FPS is exactly is the same as 260.63 beta well over 100fps with 16xQCSAA, 16XAF, all maxed out. Its on every server I go on, with 60 players or with 20 players...

Tested other Source engine games such as TF2, and L4D2 and all work perfectly. Anyone else had this issue? Might try and proper clean install (driver sweeper, etc, etc) as I just installed over the top and used the built in "clean install" feature.

These strings work good too. Actually I've decided to use'em from now on.
The frame inconsistency during 30fps replay has been settled a little with these.
    Thank you! :)

You "posteed" eh? Well then, I'll have to avoid reporting problems I've had, after you already had them, in the future!
