Working fine for me. Smoother game play with less stuttering than previous drivers I've tried.

So far COD4, COD WaW, GRID, Fallout 3, Crysis WH -- all running & looking good.

Test more tomorrow night, need to get some sleep.

The first two 185's had caused huge FPS drops for me in COD 4. With Ambient Occlusion on I would get drops to 30 FPS. Off it would still dorp into the 40's. I didn't even like the 182.05 so I was using the 182.46 until today.

I prefer Nvidia's own tool, besides the fact it works great, it starts in Vista without any problems from Vista's UAC. Once you set your clocks you are done, just set it and forget it;) The rest like Riva and EVGA are blocked at start-up and a PITA to get working with Vista on start-up as Nvidia's is simple and effective.

These drivers work just fine and again I must remind those that if you are on Vista, just run the new driver over the old one. No need to uninstall and run driver cleaners ect, as Vista and the new drivers remove and replace all that is needed. Plus it saves all your overclocks and other misc settings such as game profiles ect...

    Link to Nvidia system tool...http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.03.html

On a side note. I do not install the system update tool, just bloated stuff imo.

Working fine here with CoD WaW, Age of Conan and Far Cry 2. Getting 4fps higher average on FC2 bench than 182.50 but lost 1 point in 3dmark06, go figure.

These are working very well in the few games I tried (Sacred 2, L4D, Fallout 3, and Farcry 2). They're definitely the best 185 set yet and they save my dv settings for both displays -a first for any driver!!! :)

For some people like myself that is the worst advice you can give!
Maybe it works for you in vista like that, but in my case it results in a BSOD and a failed driver install.
Another thing can also happen even if successful you can end up with drivers from old and new being used.
A brief look in nvidia's cpl -> system info shows parts of the old drivers still registered.
Uninstall old drivers, then install new drvers and I get a clean install.

I always install the new drivers over older ones, never had a problem w/ it. The "old" parts you see in the CP are the retired old components that would get reinstalled if you roll back the driver. They are not active and can be identified by the 'R' at the end of their file name. 185.81 works fine for me so far, installed it over 181.50 w/o any problems.

Nvidia Control panel -> Help -> System Infomation -> Components..
For me if I install newer over older then I see older 185.68 components still being used along with newer 185.81 components being used for other parts.

Yet if I uninstall the older driver, driver cleaner in safe mode, reboot and install new driver then Nvidia Control panel -> Help -> System Infomation -> Components shows it as all 185.81 components.

But to each his own belief I guess.

Still no Control Panel. And it sucks because I think this driver is finally going to solve my issues. Gonna check out the NVIDIA forums to see if anyone has a fix.

This is the first time since the release of the 185 drivers that I'm able to get pass the Windows screen. I have no problem with 185.81; I have tested GTA4, Farcry2, Fallout3, Grid, The Witcher, Crysis Warhead, DeadSpace, and Zeno Clash. I notice a significant performance boost in all these games, also IQ is better in the above games.

Edit: forgot to mention that I'm using Window XP SP3

I'm another person who installs new drivers over old ones in order to keep all my profile settings. Granted I do use nHancer to export the profile settings to a file but it's just more convenient for me to install over the top of existing drivers. I've only ever had problems once but that was with 32-bit XP. Everything else has been fine.

My argument is that the installer should be written so it deletes any unnecessary files from older drivers as part of the installation process of the new ones. If it doesn't then they are poor drivers IMO.

I'm rejoicing over these for Win 7.

The auto-update 181.72's caused massive polygon streched artifacts in DX9 mode on Win 7, and an ntdll.dll crash in DX10 mode.

With these new 185.81's.... both DX9 and DX10 run perfectly!

I think your Nvidia Profiles are located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvApps.xm

Just installed on Windows 7 x64 RC Build 7100.

I can also confirm the 4-5 sec delay on the desktop right-click context menu.

I don't know how annoying that will get so I'll test out some games before I pass judgement...

As of these drivers I can't set the fan speed via EVGA Precision! :3eyes:
