Small update : I discovered that my Hibernation was still enabled in Vista so i disabled it using the CMD box.

    Powercfg -H OFF

The BSOD happens when i just leave my Vista on in Desktop for a while (not during gaming).. but when its idle for a long time. So maybe hibernation could be the problem.. somehow the hibernation option has been removed in control panel -> power options..

now i hope this BSOD does not return anymore for me :3eyes:

Actually this is a brand new vista installation.. so this 182.06 driver is my first nvidia-driver in this case.. clean install.

for now it still works, didnt had a BSOD yet. hopefully the hibernation was the problem..
but ill leave my vista idle now for about 12-24 hours and see if anything happens or not.

u format first? i am assuming u did...

wouldnt hurt to uninstall..reboot safe mode do a driver clean and try again if u havent already done so..

    good luck.

Thanx, yes i did a complete reformat including partitioning.. so now its a matter of waiting and see if vista works now without BSOD.. if thats the case, then hibernation could be the conflict with nvlddmkm.sys BSOD's.

anyone else notice 2d/3d downclocking problems with this driver. apologies if this has already been mentioned..

for a long my 295 has been downclocking fine in desktop. now it seems stuck @stock speed.

I get that with this driver too, but only if I overclock, if I don't overclock it downclocks fine.

No clock issues here with OCing my 260's with either the retailor OC or the extra OC that I add to it.

I don't know if it will actually do anything at all, but yes you should set it to PCI-e.

    Didn't do anything.

Instead of re-installing the 174.16 drivers I tried the 175.16 drivers. They work fine. I don't have a problem running old drivers since everything is running fine and smooth. But this problem is really bugging because it's so odd. I really want to know whats causing it.

So if anybody else has a suggestion please tell me!

Yep same here. I haven't overclocked my cards yet once in 3d mode the cards do not return to 2D clock speeds.

Look for an option in the BIOS that actually lets you DISABLE the onboard video.

    @mitzi76

Since i disabled Hibernation (Powercfg -H OFF) i did not have any BSOD's anymore, Vista has been running for 24+ hours now active and idletime.. works fine..

For other people that have BSOD problems : try disable Hibernation in CMD Box.

    Hey everyone,

With these drivers, when I try to go SLI-mode / single monitor display, BSOD occurs.
With the previous one, 182.05 the inverse happened.

Back to 180.84 again when both modes worked fine.

Also, with these 3 drivers, I didn't find the "horizontal span" option on nvidia cp to play Burnout - Paradise City with 2 monitors properly.

    Help will be apreciated.
