If you have a 9 series card, then yes.. for DSR.

    If not, then nooooooo :)

You also don't need escalators when you could manually walk up stairs either but convenience seems to be a common theme in modern America these days...*ptooey**....I spit on convenience!!

It runs a ton of background processes and services so it's better left uninstalled if you don't use ShadowPlay.

Even with 980\970 I never used it. Every game I can pick DSR.. Up to you..

Not needed. It's a bloat unless you want to use DSR or Shadow Play.

Not anymore, the graphics settings it uses for optimal are far too conservative, the program takes a long time to load, and it does not give me the graphics tweaking options I would use anyway via nvidia inspector (custom aa, custom hbao+, half vsync, and 50 others).

Maybe if I had 4k and gsync, then it might become useful because those ultra conservative graphics options might actually be required for that resolution. But since I think 4k is a money sink, that'll likely never happen.

But what about SLI profiles? GFE are pushing SLI profile updates in background, if you dont have GFE are you still getting profile updates?

Doesn't that work through the driver? Or was I getting this wrong? Or probably NVinspector?

Well GFE does the profile updating, it periodically checks nvidia server for application and SLI profile updates, if it finds new ones it downloads and installs them automatically in beckground. Maybe if you dont install GFE nvidia installs some other service that does that, im not sure. There was an nvidia updater service that did this, before GFE was made, im not sure about now tho.

Okay so for SLI users, GFE is mandatory? Unless you want to wait for the next driver update (which should contain all the latest SLI profiles).

Yes, that sucks for those people still on XP with 2GB of RAM, for everyone else, extra background processes accounting for less than 1% of overall usage is a drop in the bucket.

It's probably a personal thing, but I don't like to have several services, including the one for capturing, running if I don't need them.

I have anywhere between 100 and 125 processes running at all times, with 15-20% RAM utilization and 0.5-1% CPU utilization while idle. Being as conservative as possible I can get down to 10% RAM usage and 0-1% CPU usage. Difference is almost literally nothing these days whether you have bare bones or the full suite for all components installed.

It's probably a weird personal preference thing that stems from the BLKVPR days of getting Windows XP to below 20 processes to run optimally.

I have it installed but disabled. You can setup DSR resolutions from your regular nvidia panel and just manually configure the games to run at the res you want. Can involve .ini editing, but i somehow doubt anyone here would see that as an issue.

For now I have it uninstalled, due to the conflict with SweetFX.
