Those of you who are suffering stuttering, and have the updated microcode for spectre, I'd be interested to see how you fare if you roll back your BIOS. Intel have reported instability with the new microcode and I have reason to believe that it is effecting our frametimes.

    https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2018/01/microcode-update-guidance.pdf

If you are able to test with and without the microcode update, and present frametime graphs of comparable situations, I'd really like to see it.
The power monitoring issue still remains even with the old microcode, though.... So leave that disabled.

this is specific to this driver set, I have no microcode/bios or windows update for this specific part. So the comparison is strictly apples to apples

on 4x Titan XP quad SLI these drivers score consistently lower than <390

on 4x Titan V these drivers score consistently lower than <390

on single Titan XP these drivers score consistently lower than <390

on single Titan V these drivers score consistently lower than <390

On stability, these drivers have caused app crashes and game crashes, not that I've never ever had a crash before, but let's just say I haven't seen it since one of the 385 drivers. So these drivers and the 390.65 are similar in instability

so back to 388.71 till they quit monkeying around

A lot of folks are invoking these fixes as gospel, but I've also seen that a lot of people actually don't understand how these patches work/don't work.

..and its not a fix if it hurts performance.

No, it's Intel playing fast and loose with performance numbers. So now that they're being forced to setup proper separation of user space versus kernal, and maintain security, the true performance of their architecture is showing. Just my $.02

Tested these last night with Fifa18, Prey, Doom (demo), Batman AC, The Witcher 2(demo) and RE7. All good, except Doom only works with OGL, crashed on start-up when you try to use Vulkan.
This isn't related to just this driver though, happened on the previous few as well.
Not sure if the issues affects the full game though, will check when my brother in law give me back access to his Steam library.

I did get one black screen watching something on Mediaportal and using MADVR, could have been a one off as MP has never been the most stable bit of software. After that though, all was fine.
No problems with the Dynamic Range settings not sticking either, or Digital Audio.

I have noticed that in the last 2-3 drivers, HDMI audio settings save even after a new driver install, even using DDU. Assuming this is being stored somewhere within Windows, handy I suppose.

Thanks but your post is not applicable to my post. You are comparing two driver versions with the same microcode. I am asking for comparisons of the same driver versions, with different microcode.

That's objectively untrue, sorry. The problem is lack of security, and if security is regained, then the problem is fixed. Performance losses that may come with the fix are unfortunate but don't stop it from being a fix. They may, however, stop it from being a fix you or I like. But our performance preferences do not have any bearing on the actual problem, which is security.

It's also offtopic. I'm just trying to get rid of stuttering here. Can we please not get caught up in intel hate, and just try and get our games running well? I feel your rage. I lost 60% speed on my new NVMe drives, and have spent WEEKS trying to un**** my PC. It sucks. Let's not fight.

Well NvfbcPluginWindow still hangs on shutdown, I don't install GFE so don't understand how it is being installed since it's part of video recording from what I can research.

No problems with these on my 1060 , only tested on PUBG and Elite so far but they seems smooth enough.

    HDMI sound bug still here.
I have to disable HDMI sound on both Samsung TVs I have attached to my gpu after every reboot.

Stability and performance not tested yet.

Can you list specifically all settings are not getting saved on reboot (not just others)?

Are you running any non standard OS settings or modifying the driver install (beyond using the custom clean install option)?

I extract the driver and delete all useless crap before installing it, which would not cause this problem and has never caused this problem until about 3-4 drivers ago

Nothing else customised on the OS

windowed/borderless gsync seems broken with this driver, minor screen tearing at the bottom of screen and not smooth at all, like its just not working. reinstalled 390.65 and its working fine again.

Thanks, I'll see about this driver, but yeah my systems weird at times. I get major slowdowns even when I got the wrong overlays running... mit this have to do with "single display performance" mode VS "multi display performance" in driver?

    thanks...

@ManuelG In the last 2 official nvidia driver threads incl. 390.77 i didn“t find the issue (The Division texture flickering) in your "issues and updates" post. Is the problem solved for nvidia? Thanks....
