Think this is my first thread, and have done a search, and can't find much about this card in particular.

Saw this on overclockers, and with 3-4 PhysX games coming out this year i wondered if this would be good to use with my GTX260 as a PhysX card, its cheap and chearful, and im assuming quieter and less of a power drain than my old 8800GT.

Anyone used it for that purpose with good results?

    Cheers

I'd recommend nothing more or less than a 9600GT for a dedicated PhysX card.

9600GT or a cheap 88GT/98GT if you can get your hands on one

Yeah, spotted other ones when i was shopping around.

Got me thinking though, how much does PhysX take shader wise when its doing the PhysX on its own, i only have the 192 GTX260, and although adequate, the dips down to 25-30fps on Batman AA irritate me, and would like to improve that with as little noise and heat as possible.

Suppose i could try and see what happens, not alot of money to waste, and i see the 9600 and 9800 being too noisy for my liking.

Yeah, probably the biggest name PhysX game yet, and with Terminator Salvation getting a patch, and Darkest Of Days, Dark Void and U-Wars all supporting it, and maybe some more, was hoping i could get a cheatp, quiet, cool alternative to the GTX260 to do it all on its own.

ricardonuno1980, didn't spot the 9400GT was only 16stream initially, wondering how many would be minimum.

Cybermancer, apologies, should of spotted that when i started thread.

Lol, strangely enough, i've ordered that and the 9600 GSO, will try both and see what framerates and noise are with both of them, and whatever one i don't like is going into a cheap build im doing for my brother.

I can thief the 8800GT from the missus as she is bored of Sims3 by now, but i hated that thing, too hot, too noisy, it was a great card for visuals though, but just don't think it would go well in my already overcramped board.

I'm commenting on your thread too, but the two cards i've ordered today should arrive either today or tomorrow, will let you know how i get on with them.
    9600GSO is 48 Stream.
    9800GT is 112

Just got my 9600GSO delivered, the one below.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-197-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=356

Thing is, in everything i check it in, its showing up as 96Stream processors, which is a nice surprise, since the 9800GT i got for something else im doing, doesn't fit.

Only things is, its added 10c to my core temp for the 260, will do some benchies and see if it was worth the £35.

Oh, and using the 190.56 drivers, and newest PhysX package, i can select which card to use PhysX on, thought people said that was removed in the newest drivers?

Getting an extra 10fps in Batman:AA, the tile bit still dips down to the 20's though, thing is, i get the same, if not a touch more on High as i do on PhysX normal.

Crysostasis benchmark always shuts PC down though, but think thats a PSU problem.

Have to say once i iron out the wee problems, its definelty money well spent.

I ran Batman with everything maxed out, 4xAA (if I recall correctly) and I never dipped below 30
