wow i got an impressive 12% more performance using this drivers and RBAR on my 3080 ventus oc, went from 75 fps max settings to 84 fps edit: forgot to say the game tested was AC Valhalla
Are Nvidia going to list what games they are allowing for RBAR? Or does the driver have an override? I appreciate them taking the time to test and block negative performance, but I doubt they tested everything.
The driver does this via 3 fields exposed by profile inspector, dr_rus has shown them before. it has increased from 8, to 17. Assassin's Creed Valhalla Battlefield V Borderlands 3 Control Cyberpunk 2077 Death Stranding DIRT 5 F1 2020 Forza Horizon 4 Gears 5 Godfall Hitman 2 Hitman 3 Horizon Zero Dawn Metro Exodus Red Dead Redemption 2 I can't remember which games were the first 8, the original article has been updated since.
Says in Nvidia control panel resisable bar: no, and I have it activated on bios. My setup is a Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 3060Ti
I just want to throw it out there that yes, in fact nVidia's RBAR appears to work, or at least is listed as active, with a Ryzen 3K CPU. Now if nVidia could just un-break adaptive sync so I'm not forced to use it with vsync. I only recently found out thanks to another user that vsync + gsync in the nVidia control panel doesn't introduce a ton of input lag as just vsync alone would, but in-game could have a separate buffer so needs to be disabled there.
Thanks, just updated the gpu firmware and after a restart its now on. Got the firmware for my Galax on https://videocardz.com/
I tested ACV & HZD using their internal benchmarks with at least 2 runs each time to see if RBAR is doing anything with Ryzen 3K CPU. Stats are not vs old driver. Same driver but with RBAR on/off in mobo BIOS. - AC Valhalla: +9-10% to average FPS & +10-12% to 0.1%/1% lows. - Horizon Zero Dawn: 0 change to average FPS, but stats overall improve, particularly "GPU FPS 99%" consistently gaining +16 fps to 132 from 116. So it's definitely doing something. Edit: And somehow I'm blind enough that I didn't see your post. I should get some sleep, I didn't even think to check if there's a whitelist and tested a game that's not supported. I hope they eventually allow manually forcing it on for unsupported games as I doubt they're going to test anything outside of very popular games.
Just did it with mbr2gpt from windows command prompt, worked like a charm actually, no loss of data, main OS volume. Also i did have to remove a recovery partition for the tool to work (needed 3 partitions max on the volume and i had 4), and i did have to change bakc the letter of the partition to C/ after it turned it into I:/
how? Ive msi 490i bios update and bar enable but ive see NO BIOS for our card and Inspector says is not turn on...how to solve m8?
Actually quite interested in the reflex latency lowering stuff, wondering how hard that is to add to games. Would be great if someone could mod UT2004 to add it for example (yes I still play that!).
They used the large memory address space...or a virtual tunnel to go directly from the CPU to the GPU's video memory, which is pretty neat. Some games will need to be patched, because their code might bottleneck on loading. You probably have some nice gains, but if the devs tuned the game for BAR, you might see significant stats. This will be very good for RTX GPU's and Ray Tracing.
