    Yes. Yes. Yes.
Just use the exact same instructions as for a standard 5200.

Ok, questions for the hardocer guru's here. Other than overclocking with RT, and doing a voltage mod, what else can I really do to my card?? It's Leadtek 6600GT TDH Extreme with the Samsung 1.2ns IC's rated @ 1250mhz stock. And for the voltage mod, can I safely just take a 10k ohm resistor off an old card I got here to solder onto it, ro do I need to go buy a different one?? I know I can also do a pencil mod for it if I don't wanna solder it. And where at the moment would I find my cards voltage?? Only by using a voltometer?? I am switching it out for a 7600 or 7900, so I wanna mod it some to see what I can get it to do. Thanks in advance.

Based on your other posts etc, you seem like more of a gamer than a CAD/DCC user.
Therefore, even if your 6600 GT should be a NV43 revision A2, meaning you could modify it to a Quadro FX 540,
I would not expect that this would be of any interest for you
    - since it would give you a few FPS lower performance in your OpenGL games.

Please, create your own thread and paste your post into it, since this thread is only about
using RivaTuner with NVstrap for modifying a GeForce 4 or a GeForce FX 5xxx to their respective Quadro siblings.

5900>FX3000 any chance for newer drivers?

Any chance for newer drivers? 43.28 are to old?
    5x.xx?
    6x.xx?
    or even 7/8x.xx?
    Did somebody try?

You mean 45.28, not 43.28, of course..?
Many have tried, so I have not bothered.
When I had my GeForce FX 5900 modded to Quadro 3000 FX,
    the 45.28 drivers worked as they should in the programs I tested it with;
3ds max, Combustion, Maya, AutoStudio, XSI, After Effect, Xfrog.
Is there any problems with it, that you know are fixed in later versions?
Or is is just a kind of "bad feeling" when using an "old" driver.. ;)

If you want to try out newer versions, I suggest trying the "Quadro certified" versions first:

    ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/Quadro_Certified/

    6600 43 A4.....I'm not 100% shure, but I think no hope

    5900>FX3000, HARDMODE?? (+BIOS flash)

Before two years it was impossible, but nowadays?
    are things changed or not?
(I think that there is a way to move resistors, but it still need RT for PCI ID, is there any chance for BIOS flash and have pure FX3000?)

@clokkevi: I've just used the latest Forceware driver , (91.37 or somethings) with the latest Rivatuner in Guru3D and with your How-to, Idid it to my oldie MX400 to Quadro , but the checkmark at the dialog :Use ROM straps for PCI DeviceID programming did not appeared for me to check (I'm sorry for my English but I think you got me, right?
3dMax work better than before, every things seem better, but is the latest driver not suitable to mod?

btw, thank you evry much for your help , and if you please, review you How-to with the latest Driver availableon the Internet.

EDITED 2006-08-08 10:56 GMT : My reply is wrong!
I thought khogao was talking about a GeForce 4 MX 4xx (which need patched 42.51 drivers)
He is correct, his GeForce 2 MX 400 is not protected, so the Quadro mod will work with unpatced drivers, any version..! :)
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    @khogao: AlecRyben is correct.

The ROM straps option, along with the other things I describe in the tutorial at
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=1636176#post1636176
is only for GeForce 6800's (and a few 6600's)

To create a Quadro mod with a GeForce 4 or GeForce FX,
you must use the tutorial I have posted at
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=800764#post800764
This is much more work - you must patch drivers etc.
Also - the ONLY driver you can use (for GeForce 4) - is version 42.51

If you feel 3ds Max is working faster than before, it is only a placebo effect.
You *believe* you now have a working Quadro mod, so you *believe* you see speed increase in 3ds Max.
This is very common, therefore, the only way to be sure if you have a good, working Quadro mod is to do tests with SPECviewperf.

    SPECviewperf is an OpenGL benchmark.
When your card is in "Quadro-mode", it can use its *hardware* to do many OpenGL functions
(which will be done in *software* instead when it is in "Geforce-mode")
So that is the reason why you will see increased performance in SPECviewperf.

If you look at each of the tests on it's own, and at the detailed results of the Unigraphics (ugs-0*) test:
    "ugs-03" (in SPECviewperf 7.1.1)
    "ugs-04" (in SPECviewperf 8.1)
    - the performance increase should be ca. 700% or so when using the Quadro mod! :)
    E.g. on my PC:

When running the SPECviewperf 7.1.1 test:
    ugs-03 = 9.302 in GeForce 6800 GT mode
    ugs-03 = 67.45 in Quadro FX 4000 mode

When running the SPECviewperf 8.1 test:
    ugs-04 = 4.774 in GeForce 6800 GT mode
    ugs-04 = 34.92 in Quadro FX 4000 mode

(These numbers are mean FPS - frames per second - values)

(The latest version, SPECviewperf 9.0, has replaced the "ugs" test with 2 other tests, and I have not tried those yet.)

You should always get tests from the FTP mirrors (much, much faster)
    Download either
    SPECviewperf711_full.exe (291984 KB) or
    SPECViewperf81.exe (424719 KB)
    from either of these sites
    ftp://spec.ir.miami.edu/dist/gpc/opc/viewperf/
    ftp://ftpsv1.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/spec/dist/gpc/opc/viewperf/

Also, if the SPECviewperf crashes, you know that the driver version is not stable. That is why we know that 42.51 is the latest stable for Quadro mod of GeForce 4 - it is the only version that does *NOT* crash in SPECviewperf.

Btw, the latest for GeForce FX 5900 is 45.28.
That is the one I used before getting the GeForce 6800 GT -> Quadro FX 4000 whcih I use now.

Even if I in fact quoted khogao's reply with "..my GF2MX400", I did not notice this..
..I still believed he was talking about a GeForce 4 MX 4xx (which of course DO need patched 42.51 drivers)

"..my GF2MX400 work perfectly with the latest driver like AlecRyben said."
Your card will of course still *work* - but you can see for your self when testing with SPECviewperf that you get 0% speed increase when using that ForceWare v91.37 driver.

You *are* aware that I have written 2 *completely different* how-to's?

    How-to #1:
Using patched Detonator v45.28 or v42.51 drivers etc. for GeForce 4 and GeForce FX *only*
Because GeForce 4's are a bit different from Quadro 4's, you must use *patched* drivers.
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=800764#post800764

    How-to #2:
Using ROM straps etc, for GeForce 6800 and GeForce 6600 *only* -
Because GeForce 6800 is 100% equal to Quadro FX 4000, this will work with non-patched drivers, you may use any you like.
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=1636176#post1636176

To get the 200%-700% increase on your GeForce 4 card you *must* use How-to #1.
Patch the Detonator v42.51 - this IS the latest version that will patch correctly, and will give you speed increase in Quadro mode on a GeForce 4.

P.S: The main reason I changed my GeForce FX 5900 into a GeForce 6800 GT,
was the fact that I can now use un-patched drivers, any version I want, with my GeForce 6800 GT -> Quadro FX 4000 mod.
On my GeForce FX 5900 -> Quadro FX 3000 mod, I was locked to Detonator v45.28 only.

    Ahhh, I see now, you have a GeForce2 MX 400 !!! I'm sorry!!
When you wrote "MX400" I was thinking "GeForce 4 MX", and so did AlecRyben : "yours is NV17"..
Also, the fact that this is the thread I started for GeForce 4 / GeForce FX modding...
..I didn't even notice that you wrote "GF2MX400" in your last post.. :bonk:

Hehe.. in that case: :) I had a
    GeForce 2 GTS - NV15.DEV_0150 - and I modded this to a
    Quadro 2 Pro - NV15.DEV_0153 - back in the autumn of 2001.
This was when I heard of RivaTuner the first time.
I did not have to patch any drivers, I just used Unwinder's original how-to:
    http://nvworld.ru/docs/sqe.html
(at the time I didn't understand why it worked, though..!)

    I do believe your card
    GeForce2 MX 400 - NV11.DEV_0110
    - do *not* have the protection that was implemeted into e.g.
    GeForce 4 Ti 4800 (NV25.DEV_0250) and
    GeForce 4 MX 460 (NV17.DEV_0170)

So, as you found out, you should use the "GeForce 6800" how-to,
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=1636176#post1636176
    since both GF 256, GF 2, GF 3, GF FX 5800, GF 6800 (NV40, NV45, NV48, GF 6600 (NV43 rev A2)
    is 100% equal in design as their Quadro siblings, and so no patching of drivers are needed ;
    - and just skip step 10) Check ON "Use ROM straps for PCI programming"

This will change the ID from
    NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0110.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400"
    to
    NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0113.1 = "NVIDIA Quadro2 MXR/EX"

Btw. with this old card, maybe it is better to use SPECviewperf 6.12,
    ftp://spec.ir.miami.edu/dist/gpc/opc/viewperf/specviewperf612is01.exe
    ftp://ftpsv1.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/spec/dist/gpc/opc/viewperf/specviewperf612is01.exe
since this test was made around the same time as the card.
That was the test I used when checking my GeForce 2 GTS -> Quadro2 Pro mod speed increase.
The SPECviewperf 8.1 was made so it was suited to the higher speed cards like Quadro FX 4500 etc..

Or even better, try out both v6.12 and v8.1, in both GeForce 2 MX mode and Quadro2 MXR mode, and post all 4 results here...! :)
    Good luck!

    the last result

OK, here is the SPECviewperf 6.12 result of my oldie GF2MX400 :

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\AWADVS\SUMMARY.TXT
    AWadvs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 33.29

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DRV\SUMMARY.TXT
    DRV-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.79

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DX\SUMMARY.TXT
    DX-06 Weighted Geometric Mean = 23.29

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    Light-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 6.872

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\MEDMCAD\SUMMARY.TXT
    MedMCAD-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 15.39

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROCDRS\SUMMARY.TXT
    ProCDRS-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.55

I'm dowloading the 8.1 version, the results will be posted later
@ Clokkevi: is my results is low comparing to REAL Quadro2 MXR?

    I have no idea! ;)
These results is of course also dependant on your CPU speed,
and you have not told us what your is..
..and even if you did, chances are your setup is pretty unique these days,
so there is no other user you may compare your results with..

As I wrote in the other thread, you must run the tests in both
    unmodified, GF2MX400 mode
    and
    modified Quadro2 MXR mode

Then compare your own results for each test.
It is also interesting to go into the detailed results,
where you see each "run" and its speed for itself.

    E.g. - this is from SPECviewperf 7.1.1:

ugs-03 Viewset in GeForce 6800 mode:
    ---------------------
    Test Weight Frames
    # Per Sec Sec
    --------------------
    1 16.50 5.41
    2 16.50 5.93
    3 16.50 4.95
    4 16.50 5.42
    5 8.50 65.1
    6 8.50 79.3
    7 8.50 8.12
    8 8.50 11.9
    ------------------
    Geometric Mean = 9.302
    ------------------

ugs-03 Viewset in Quadro FX4000 mode:
    ---------------------
    Test Weight Frames
    # Per Sec Sec
    --------------------
    1 16.50 56.9
    2 16.50 63.9
    3 16.50 50.9
    4 16.50 56.2
    5 8.50 93.3
    6 8.50 114
    7 8.50 82.9
    8 8.50 89.3
    ------------------
    Geometric Mean = 67.45
    ------------------

This shows that while tests 1,2,3,4,7 increased with ca 1000% speed,
    others - tests 5 and 6 - were only ca 40% faster..
