On launch day I ordered an Asus Strix OC 3080 but its been sorely disappointing waiting with no feedback from Ebuyers poor support about even the queue position. I have absolutely no idea when I might get one after waiting over 2 months! With news that a 3080ti is coming with at least 12GB, likely 20GB, I thought I'm having one of those! But it dawned on me these will be in even worse short supply as everyone and his dog will want one. I figured its going to be 4 months+ from release in January (supposedly) before I can get one I want, way too long. Having just bought a CRG9 (C49RG90 in the UK) ultra wide screen display, how am I supposed to get the best out of it? Then up popped a few forum statements that 3090s are in stock in some stores. I thought about it a bit and went looking for the Asus Strix models but none are to be found. But then came across a shop with just 1 Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme 3090 in stock and bought it. I feel stupid, relieved and very happy. My supposed normal 2 year buying mantra has been converted to 4 years so its not really a higher cost for that period, and should last easily with 24GB. I think its overall the best decision because I'm out of the rat run and wont have to enter it again for 4 years. And have a GREAT card coming at last, woohooo Anyone else with a crazed out buying decision?
lol. Yeah like I'm waiting that long. No matter what is released there will always be something better next year and with how things are now, it will always be a long time before I can get one. I decided to have some fun instead now there is actual stock to buy!
Naa, they will max out around the same performance level and you have to be able to buy one, fat chance. I already waited over 2 months with no sign of the card coming, the ti versions will be an even longer wait. I got mine now, probably 6 months+ ahead of that game.
me too Imma buy a turdy seventy instead 3080 is not a good buy for anything under 4K. then it suddenly becomes the best one. not how this will go down this time.expect worse than 2080 vs 2080Ti. this was the case when a g104 gpu was the early flagship now 3080 is a cut 102 and with a 320-bit bus, only possible config is 20G G6X for the higher sku, means a hefty price bump too. unless it's 384-bit 12g anyway, this will be the answer to 6900xt,so 1000 at least, maybe 1100 or 1200.genghis huang won't make it cheap. no there won't they won't even be able to cope with 30-series demand until well into 2021 stop spreading unfounded crap. my thoughts exactly not waiting for 3080Ti
2200 bucks plus our 12% tax here in BC Canada. Other provinces have different rates but only a percent or 2
Such a shame really. Great gpu's from both teams and nearly impossible to find. I'll hang onto the 2070S until next year. How about a new console? Nope same issue, can't find 'em. How about a used EVH 5150 III 50watt guitar amp? SWEET! Will be here next Tuesday
I thought you were replying to posts above yours, my bad. Although your 3090 price is quite good, cant get them near that price here!
I'm going to hunker down and wait for the Ti. Maybe I'll get lucky. Especially since I gave up waiting for Intel and took the plunge on the 5900X.
I'll be interested to read your thoughts on the 3090 Xtreme. My 3080 version has been amazing. Performance and thermals are very good.
Thought about snagging a 3090 and selling my 3080 for 3090 prices.... As for everyone thinking the 3080 people are going to feel about a Ti or whatever comes next...LMFAO. The card will be awesome for years to come. There's always something newer/better on the horizon. There will come a day that the 3080/3090 will be slow and useless. Even the 2060/2070/2080 cards are awesome still despite the 3080/3090 release. My only gripe is the price of them doesn't really make sense to buy one over a 3000 series card.
