Hey yo. What's your opinion about achievements/badges/points hunt? Do you play randomly and blindly only for joy and entertainment, OR also you have an opened page somewhere trying to "squeeze" achievements?

I stopped going for cheevos since I moved from console to PC as my main platform, they feel less satisfying to get on Steam, probably because it doesn't add to an XP bar or something? I play mostly to get sikk headshots n junk now!

I mostly play for my own entertainment... most of the times not caring about achievements (and also not seeing them as something adding to a game's play value).
Most of the times I also can't be bothered to play through a game more than twice, and some achievements are rather elusive and require specialised playing, playstyles, actions etc. with which I can't be bothered, most often going on to the next game, or visiting one of my old love's (yes FTL... talking about you... still haven't unlocked the Crystal Cruiser...).

But, I do have to admit, the more I like a game, the more interest I have in it's achievements, and any progress stats coming with it (with Fallen Order for instance, I want to have 100% exploration and chests, but not necessarily all the database entries which show little or no direct reflection of exploration progress for me).

When achievements on steam pop up I try to check out for what I got them, but I have not bothered to unlock every single achievement (most of the times in combination with the highest difficulty settings etc.). And that's about as much as they interest me.

Achievements/badges etc don't matter to me in the slightest. I play games to relax and escape a bit. Mostly SP open world type games that involve some aspect of exploration and a decent story.

My apathy is partly due to my age (40) and partly the fact that I never even come close to completing some games despite the time I spend playing so I don't earn most of them. Achievements seem more tailored to players looking for bragging rights or to those who want to complete all the things or to those who expect trophies for every little thing they do. I couldn't care less, especially since nobody would ever know anyway and generally there is no benefit to them in the game itself.

and no not chased achievements specifically ever if they came i might take a look for something to do, but outside that i have other games to play.

I disabled both Steam and Origin overlay to not distract me with their pop-ups, and to minimize the risk of glitches.

extremely small amount of games i can actually find the achievements worth the time and effort.

games like TF2 (fun.. had a blast), GTA(after the story) - achievements were sometimes just so much fun. if its compelling\challenging
and the game itself only complement the idea behind the achievement than it might work.

story\narrative oriented games most of the time its not relevant for me.

items based games like Diablo, its also irrelevant for me.. im playing for the loot.

so in general.. achievements in most* cases are meh ;/

badges ? what the hell is this ?

Never cared for achievements, never try getting them, when I do, it's based on playing the game and just happening to get them. I don't care about them one iota.

    YEs, that's the ideal answer!

I personally go for game-play, adrenaline [boosted with some good soundtracks], "stucked in some levels" ; that's the most important things/

......:( thinking of Half Life 2 & Vintage Tomb Raider games......

    Good OLD times.....best ones!

Love them, and on the xbox they get you rewards points which you can then redeem for money gift cards, brilliant stuff.

Achievements don't mean anything when most of them are stupid things like "Defeat the first level!" or "Play for 1 thousand hours!"

I play games for the entertainment and experience that the game offers. That being said, I'm not against achievements and I do sometimes like to see what I achieved in a game after I played it.. I just don't play for them or chase any of them. It's more of an "after game report" tool for me than anything else.

I don't do achievements if an element of skill isn't required. Dumb ones like 'Speak with 500 NPCs' or 'Do 1000 of this one move' are just time wasters. However those where you need to 'Hit 15 headshots in 10 seconds' I take as a personal challenge, I will do those!

Achievements also involuntarily tell the player how they should be playing game, which takes the fun out of it somewhat.

Seems like a cheap way to bolster a feeling of accomplishment where there is none. Have to say though, some achievements can introduce humor which is always welcomed. When playing PREY, had no idea that there was an achievement to be had at the beginning of the game. Who would have guessed that by jumping up and getting killed by the helicopter blades, when arriving at corporate headquarters, was an accomplishment. That made me laugh when my son killed off my character when I walked away for a minute. When the achievements are written into and add to the story of the game, like Metro Exodus, then they are welcomed. Otherwise meh.

Not really that into completing all of those, but i read them if they are revealed from the start. Sometimes the devs give you some hints what cool tricks you can pull off ingame.
