For me.. the most recent I would have to say was Dishonored.

Knowing of all the big name actors in it kinda made me double impressed.. xD

well after playing Lost Alpha it reminded me
-many games have impressed me but the stalker games feel and move like I am part of the game.
hard to pin point , but the movement just seemed real vs many of the ports we play today.
-guns felt real to a point , well placed hits/shots did matter.
-sometime a trader door door would not open [bug] go back a save and you could block the door open with something for the whole game .always had you thinking .
in la when you opened the bandit safe the bandits would come rushing in ,so you could drag the body over blocking the door from opening.
clear sky -red forest having to go into there for a mission would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. lol
-for a slow paced game if you didn't save every 5 minutes or so , that could cost many hours of redoing game play.

Rainbox 6 Vegas was the last time I was impressed by graphics. I haven't had a rig in a while that I can have everything enabled though. My monitor is 2560x1440 and games look awesome, but my single GTX 760 isn't enough to max games at a playable framerate.

The game instantly grabbed my attention with, what still stands to me, one of the best openings in a game ever.
And then, the first time I went into slowmo and shotgun blasted an enemies' head off with his body doing a flip as it went over a stair case... awesome.

Good shout! Even better, that intro camera flyby made me come in my pants hard back in the day. Graphically it was so ahead of its time. Shame the game itself was a bit crap.

Edit: have to add Quake with 3Dfx Voodoo to the list. It looked incredible. And the original wolf3d and then Doom. In fact, I used to make a massive detour on my way home from college, via this pc shop because they had a demo of Doom running in their window. I would literally stand there for hours and drool all over the place, dreaming about owning a pc that could run such insane graphics. Good times.

Surprised no one has mentioned this….PORTAL 2…the way you beat the
is absolute genius. And one of the most co-op co-op experiences ever.

But Yeah also DEAD SPACE…holy crap what a game!

I'm afraid by the time portal 2 dropped I've seen it all multiple times and it took a lot to impress me. Hence why I rate MGS4 so highly, even after 20+ years of gaming it just completely blew me away, like games used to in the 80s and 90s.

    Without question, Bioshock: Infinite

And then the outstanding Burial at Sea Pt II ending punched me in the gut and made me start the whole thing over again.

Also, the first Portal game when you realize wtf is happening and how much BIGGER the story actually is. I had not read anything about the game and thought it was simply a puzzle game. Then I played the user mod Portal prelude which was pretty damn good as well.

Oh, and I have to include the Modern Warfare 2 campaign. Seeing Russia invading Maryland and then Washington was pretty freaking epic. Great story there.

Going to add some moments of the Metal Gear Series to the list. Revisiting Shadow Moses in MGS4 was one of those moments.

+Metro 2033 when you first go outside. I was like woah... so pwetty + atmosphere.

Yeah, and the music in that part of the game fits that atmosphere so well.

That bit sent shivers down my spine, most epic moment in gaming history. When that music kicked in, I was like woooooaaah!
