Been playing apb reloaded, and a few more games, crysis, crysis 2, jericho. I have notice that turning on mlaa games not only look smoother/better , but they run smoother. Anyone else notice this?

The only flaw with mlaa enable, text and stuff looks smaller ( in some games and in seamonkey ).

Another General thread. Reminds me of his rants about how humans cannot possibly see more than 24 frames a second and how his PCI rig in the age of PCIE is totally awesome for modern games like Crysis.

I never said that. I do remember saying that i don't see why people are complaining about getting more than 60 frames per second, when at 100 frames, it looks the same as 60.

Well i have come to reliaze that PCI cards suck, but back when i was using them i play games just fine. But ya i was wrong , seeing how my quad core, and my xfx 5750 performs, pci is horrible.

It blurs much more than conventional AA thou.

SMAA is far superior to the MLAA crap, faster frames and looks nicer without the crappy font rounding and blurry textures:)

That's because most LCD monitors run with 60 Hz refresh rate. Get a 120 Hz monitor and you'll be able to discern the difference between 60 FPS and 120 FPS.

Are there any vids you can link showing this? I've yet to see games play faster/smoother on a 120Hz monitor.

That's not what I asked :). I'm just looking for information that shows that 120hz monitor providing faster smoother game play then a 60hz monitor. Do you have any video links?

I called BS. Sorry but i find that hard to believe, 60 and over 100 frames looks the same. Hell, playing games at 40 is fine with me.

Well until AMD add SMAA into thier drivers for us to turn on, i will continue to use MLAA.

well i dont even have a 120 hz monitor, and 120fps video is pretty hard to find. Even 60 fps video is really rare.

The first time I turned on MLAA, I thought my GPU's memory got fried.

You can use InjectSMAA now. No need to wait.

    +1 to CeeJay.dk

    ---

ATI/AMD's MLAA implementation is obsolete now, mostly because
    • It has a huge performance hit
    • Image quality is degraded, like you can see some sort of screen shimmering or color values changing rapidly on the same spots of 3D space_and_texture. (apart from the anti-aliasing effect on aliasing section of the screen)
    ---

Scrap MLAA, Use either FXAA or SMAA DLL wrapper.

If you are playing Online in multi-player games, don't use any of them.

Well I don't know what the ML in MLAA stands for, but as long as it means Anti-Aliasing then I also have the same experience.

I tried to turn on 4x AA in NFS Hot Pursuit and Mass Effect 2 (both games doesnt support AA natively) in the Nvidia Control Panel and set it to "Override Any Application Setting".

I immediately noticed that there was more GPU usage and thus made the game smoother due to the increased frames/sec.

I was amazed. It sorta made the game GPU dependent
