    .
I posted this over at Nvnews just after skyrim was released works for me give it a try but please read the info given in the link befoe just jumping into to the how too!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not really a problem with Skyrim but more a problem with how windows 7 timers work
if you want more info on the why and how look up Time Stamp Counter and PM Timer

but forcing win7 to use the PM Timer only will allow you to run skyrim with "iPresentInterval = 0" without the funky side effects

Don't do this blindly go and read about it first a good round up of info can be found here

    under the HPET Tweak! section

    windows tweak is as follows

    Cmd run as admin

    bcdedit /set useplatformclock true

    Log off/reboot

As i said go read about it FIRST,if you don't and do it blindly & it ****s up your system don't blame me ;)

Guys always wanted to ask: what's your approach with heavily modded Skyrim installations (ENB on top along with tons of mods) regarding settings and framerate?
    Specs are at the left.

I just want to know what you guys think of:

    - capping the game to 30fps, boost visuals with ENB and use Ultra Quality preset
    - NOT capping it (getting framedips, as an example) while boosting visuals with ENB / Ultra Quality without AA (or FXAA)
    - lowering the resolution to 720p or similar while boosting visuals thru ENB/Mods + Ultra Quality to keep fps above 50.

Actually I've gone back to RealEnB (along with Dynavision DoF, Climate of Tameriels, Glorious Grass, WATER, Flora Overhaul etc) + ultra quality @ 4xAA/16xAF @ 1080p and I'm getting around 55.6/60 fps in open areas. Ambient Occlusion hits almost 20fps but makes things beautiful.
So I'm wondering if capping the game at 30fps would be ok (for SSAO) or leave it as it should.

I've been capping my fps at 30 to get rid of all the stuttering.
(I'd cap it at 60 if my system was able to render that much frames with all my mods)

playing at 720p is fugly as hell!

As all sli users out there might know, enabling sli with Skyrim boosts framerates but effectively deactivates HDR lighting also.

Is there a mod that perhaps overcomes this issue by introducing a custom HDR approach? Or any other solution on this matter would do...

Oh yes and Unreal2004 post your mods please :)

ENB series comes with a frame capper. I think you have to press Insert or Home key and it enables it. However, the problem I found is that Skyrim likes 60fps. Anything higher and the physics will go to ****, and anything lower your loading times will be horrendous. At 60fps my loading times are a few seconds, with 30fps my loading times are around 30 seconds!

You should get between 30-60 when using mods & enb configs...

I get myself an average of 55-60. However, at times it dips into the late 40's yet overall it seems pretty smooth...

    I wouldn't bother capping fps...

Doesn't look like HPET works for my Motherboard, i can select both 32-Bit and 640Bit in BIOS but nothing shows up in the Device Manager.

When did the CMD command i got a blue screen after a while ingame saying something about a clock being wrong.

    EDIT:

Nvm, it's there but it's ofcourse in Dutch which makes to blend in :p

Yes it should be there, but select the appropriate 64bit for 64bit OS.

Use that command after you activated it in bios. :)

Boris of ENB fame has brought it up to version 0.119 for Skyrim, adding separate parameters for interiors... previously most interiors used the night values which was quite limiting.

0.119 download... any current config will need work to add new setting values.
    http://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.htm

I've only had a quick tweak of the interior values, but its already looking better with out the crossover.

    Thanks for the update, painter.

I was wondering why there hasn't been an update for a while. I guess extra variables is a good thing, though I haven't yet tried it in game after adding the new lines to my current preset.

Also this release (0.119) is not listed as beta. :)

    ps.

According to Boris, the shadow popup is caused by the way the game engine handles shadow distance. Another shadow specific engine limitation is that of 4 dynamic shadow casting light sources. This has a similar effect in regards to shadow popup and can be seen when using an excellent mod called Real Lights.

    http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9066

The above has a quite remarkable effect on immersion, however the shadow popup can be quite severe. There is also a mod for developers that tries to get past this limit.
