The only real difference is the clock speed and perhaps a bit more OC headroom. Then again, Pill got his 8320 to 4.8ghz so judging by that I don't see the 8350 being worth that extra $$ as much lol. Then again, he may have lucked out and got a great chip of the batch. You never really know if you're going to get an OC dud or a OC beast sometimes

A question for the folks hitting 4.8-5.x. What kind of cooling are you using and what kind of temps are you getting? Also, could you post more detail on your bios settings that you're using to get stable at these speeds? Details ppl. Details. :)

    Hello
    Thought id add a note,

Was looking to upgrade an old C2d system, looked at the Intel offerings and the budget would not stretch that far, luckily a friend had upgraded to fx 6 core last year as was loving it, now i was allways AMD when i started out after my 486 days, earlt k5 and k6 durons and athlons my last being an Athlon 1800 XP, then i swapped to pentium duals and my last cpu a Core 2 duo 2.6 but oc'd for last 18 months @3.2 i had allways wanted to drop in a quad core but with a gpu update to a 560 last year its seen me through most things even BF3 but have been feeling the squash of late.

So grabbed a new case and an fx8320, a Asrock 990fx and 16GB on corsair vengence 16000 ram total cost about £300, keeping my 560 (waiting on the 760 before upgrade next year) power supply (it works and have had no issues) and hard drives an ssd is on the cards this year, but a 3 disk software raid is loading fast for me atm.

So have the FX 8320 @ 4.0 Ghz stable with cool , n quiet and no thermal issue on stock cooler, just a little loud lol at full tilt.lol

All in all really happy, allways felt a little dirty with an intel:)

Hey Pill. Have you noticed the SB heatsink on our board getting a bit hot? Or maybe it's just mine. I was changing out video cards a little bit ago and the side of my hand brushed againt it. Needless to say to was still very warm. And that was after my PC being off for for like 2 mins. So I can imagine what it would of felt like with it on. I don't remember the HS on my gen 1 Sabertooth getting that hot. Any idea of what the thermal limit is for this thing?

Can't say I've noticed tbh... Dunno what the max temp is but the heatsink should be hot if it's doing it's job properly.

At a guess the limit is probably around ~80c

Here's my temps: going by my observations I think temp #1 and #2 are for the CPU and NB or RAM vrm's.

Just put my hand on the SB, feels warm - def wouldn't say hot.

I have 2 side intake fans though, what's your cooling like?

As I start to overclock beyond that clock, the cpu starts to throttle and my results in 3DMark start to reverse.
