I would not say anyone who buys a Geforce 7950 GX2 is a dumbass. If you already have a higih end gaming rig then it probably is not worth it. For someone who has an outdated system it might be the right choice. Also since AMD just released their new AM2 processor that is just another reason for some to dump their old PC. Not to mention that the 7950 will support Anti Aliasing x32. I mean 6 or 7 months is a long time to wait to update an old system to play the newest games with full eye-candy and high res. If your the kind of person who will spend $500 for a 7900GTX then spending $100-$200 more for the latest GPU isn't so insane. Perhaps paying $900 is a bit crazy though.

$900 USD is quite pricy for these cards. I am a U.S. reseller and I am starting the price at $750 USD. I ordered 5 units of the MSI Geforce 7950 GX2 which are expected to arrive in my hands on June 6, 2006. Nvidia will be offically announcing its release at Computex on that day. Funny thing is I called my supplier on June 1st to inquire about the 7950 for a customer and they did not have an accurate date. Next day my account manager called me and told me she had a dozen or so units in-stock. Right now only ASUS and MSI are available to me. Hopefully I will offer XFX and BFG by mid June as long as my supplier's date doesn't get pushed back. Nvidia has been pretty good at supplying the 90nm 7900GTX so I don't anticipate there will be major delays like with the 7800GTX 512 fiasco.

When it comes to pricing it all boils down to supply and demand. If the supply is limited the price will naturally be higher. Once the market becomes saturated then the price will fall since no one is going to buy it for $900 when they could pay $600-$700 and get it just as quickly.

Take it easy all you hardcore gamers!

you cant compare a firegl to a geforce kpc2593. if you want to compare prices that way, look at the quadro, thats in the same price league

i found some prices in Germany:
    http://www.geizhals.at/eu/?fs=7950gx2&x=0&y=0&in=
while there is one seriously gouged, the others are on a reasonable level, at €590 for the most expensive, to €507 for the cheapest, which is about €50 more than 7900gtx/x1900xt.

They are available in Australia for roughly $1000
    A 7900GTX will set you back $700-$800
I think its pretty good if you just buy one.

I hope that Hilbert tested 2 of these in quad for his article that will be released today.
1 of these isn't better than 2 single GT's in sli but 2 of these might rock !!

If they come out around the £500 mark, then thats pretty reasonable seeing as u are essentially getting 2 cards. However, remember, the clock speeds are much lower than the GTX, so these will probably be closer to 2x7900GT's imo in terms of performance, and considering you can get 2 7900GT's in SLI for around £450 now, its not *that* great a deal.

    Exactly what i mean.
But you cant get quad with single cards.
Only a good card for quad setup, else go single cards SLI.

Personally, I think that the test should be done in single and ALSO in SLI. I would love to see how one of these things tests against 2 GTXs in SLI.

Well, to be honest, I could afford one of those if I really wanted it. It helps when your wife has a Dr before her name. But as I previously stated, if one already has a premium card such as a X1900 or 7900GTX, upgrading to one of these probably wouldn't make much sense. However you are correct that those people currently using older 6800 or lower-end cards would probably be the happiest campers on the planet with one of these new GX2's.
