Forza Horizon 5

Very strange performance in this game with the 3080. This is at extreme setting with 4xMSAA with shading at ultra. Even using the scaling option doesn't lock to 60, whereas my 3070 can run this better. What's going on? If I use the ultra preset but set geo to extreme the 3070 literally copes better. This is starting to bug me a bit.

These scenes are the only thing the card struggles with. The benchmark gives expected results, as does testing that scene detailed in the DF performance video, so I'm left confused.

Interesting. Any thoughts on why a 3070, albeit overclocked, runs the same scene faster? I thought perhaps in the scene the game was liking the higher clocks more but even overclocking the 3080 a bit didn't really improve things. basically the 3080 was at 1980 core vs 2070 core on the 3070. Both have 96 ROPs so idk.

The 3080 behaves as expected in other games so the card is OK. Weird that a lower tier card can perform better in select scenes.

 

Here we can see the lack of scale in the GPUs. My 3070 with nice OC a match for the stock 3070 Ti and... the 3080 is not far ahead.

 

It is incredible how much amd has improved in this game. I think its mostly sam support where nvidia lacks.

6900xt vs 3090ti

 

Those scores must be above the default extreme preset with 8xMSAA?

 

8K resolution 6900k is paired with 5800x3d and 3090ti with 12900k

 

Yup , indeed SAM perform better even on my 3800X + 6600XT combo. I see that it uses bit more video ram with SAM enabled at the same video options.

I was responding to the Hot Wheels video but thanx for the info. Maybe i will buy this game later this year.

 

Be aware that Hot Wheels costs $20. It requires the base game too if you don't already have it.

 

I already played the new Hot Wheels expansion for about 1~2 hours and i liked it a lot. Lots of fun and things to do , new tracks are insane

 

Do you use the same vehicles as in the base game or Hot Wheels only ones?

 

You can use both. I started with the Bone Shaker ( Hot Wheels exclusive ) , but i used some of my base game cars too.

 

Temproal AA has a burn in effect on the vehicle. Noticable around the back bumber and spoilers when stationary.
