DSOgaming tested Forspoken and found that the game has stutters and frame pacing issues. But get this, the author is using 16GB of RAM and a 9900K with an RTX 4090 And he says the game "requires" 14GB of RAM LOL! Just from reading this, it's apparent that the game probably does need more than 16GB of RAM. Forspoken does not support DirectStorage on Windows 10, has frame pacing/stuttering & audio issues (dsogaming.com)
The demo is awful. I have no sound during the game, and with the highest settings with mine 4090, i get around 60-70fps, and it can easily dip to 55fps when many effects on screen. Frame pace issues exists. I see no reason why the game is so heavy, it has nothing special in terms of graphics.
One thing the game does great: Direct Storage. From menu to in-game in under a second it pretty cool. Hope more and more games support this tech.
Tried the demo, uninstalled in 10 minutes. 120 fps cap is max for PC version which seems to be a step back from FF XV, beyond that it appears to be exactly FF XV with an option for range combat and "yass slay queen" coat of paint. 4090 seems to barely hover around the 120 fps cap with all settings maxed out and DLSS set to quality. Doesn't look anywhere close to justify its performance level and requirements and ultimately it's nothing that i haven't played already. Perhaps it would scratch that final fantasy itch if one would mute character voiceovers or eventually they'll add an option to disable the character quips which they do every 30 or so seconds. Still, i can't imagine paying 60 dollars for this (and much less that they're asking even more for it lol). Perhaps a deep sale buy a year, two or three from now. Also - lazy shader compilation.
Well I just finished playing the demo and I'm honestly impressed, I will pick this up at some point. Performance is fantastic, running DLSS quality with all the other settings as high as they go @ 1440P, no load times and 0 stutter, if there was then you blink you miss it. I especially liked the combat and exploring, someone described it as Eldern Ring on steroids, it definitely feels a bit ER and Sonic Frontier. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if I had listened to the vocal crowd id ignored this but SE done good providing a demo as id definitely would not have bothered. Unfortunately you will never know if someone is trolling or not regarding anything about this game as the damage is likely done. Compared to some of the ports we have seen recently this is far from bad, on my rig anyway.
Direct Storage is cool. Really does load almost instantly. The game however is absolute trash tier. Feels like playing some free to play mmo, with constant horrible dialog on top. And probably the most awful inventory screen I've seen. No idea what they were thinking releasing this lol. The fact they're asking 80 euros ( ~87$? ) in Europe for this, is mind blowing.
16GB is enough, people seeing 14GB of total RAM usage(Including OS). Anyway, it supports directstorage 1.0 which doesn't support GPU decompression, so no big deal..And of course it suffers from shader compilation stutters. Also the game is trash, lol. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/forspoken-has-frame-pacing-audio-shader-compilation-stutters-issues/ Let's hope that Dead Space Remake will be much better in terms of performance..
I played a bit more and I liked the combat and traversal system. But the world is too baren. Also, the voice acting and writing are terrible. The actress has no talent at all. They only hired her because she is pretty and tall. It's very annoying to have to listen to that constant crizzle.
I had no interest in the game but an opportunity to see what direct storage was all about was too good to miss. So when I clicked on the Steam page to try the demo and saw the download size, I promptly said "hell no".
Steam reviews are hilarious. Geek boys loosing their crap over "wokeness" lol. Games might be getting worse these days but so are gamers haha.
I was just reading reviews and most of them are about how bad of a port the game is and how poorly optimized for PC it is.. along with the voice actor and writing just being...... well not very good.
If by "bombed" you mean receiving reviews from individuals who now own this newly released video game, then you are correct.
Just finished the demo and sadly unimpressed, combat was reminiscent of FFXV and felt a little scatter-brained, not fluid enough to be good but passable and from a visual stand point it was a little underwhelming considering the system requirements.
This attempt to at least "postpone" review bombing on metacritics is quite funny: "Please spend some time playing the game. Come back to review it starting at 12:00pm PST on January 25."
I played it a bit, you can mute their annoying conversation to minimum It ran good until the boss fight and when she created that water tornado it dipped fps a bit, but that looked cool. Hair, well.. I've seen better, at least upclose. MK11 had it by initial release, until they downgraded because of taa
With such crazy high system specs I'd have thought it would at least have better rock textures than what is present in Skyrim..... The skin texture looks good at least.
