Many thanks folks, I might well install them.
As long as no warning sign comes up about digitally signed drivers, then I am fine.
I hope they come out on the main download site of Nvidia soon.

But check 3DMark 2006. I've seen others report lower findings for 2005 but increases in 2006.

    errr.. whql means nothing,

70% of the drivers we use are not whql, only 30% of the drivers we actually use are whql

I usually watch the forums, but this driver needs first posting.

    I can't belive.
    In FEAR I'm getting

    Driver v84.12 29/44/88
    Driver v84.20 31/51/112

That is a huuuuge increase in speed. And this is with AA disabled.

The FEAR improvements are indeed rather cool. Enough that I might consider upping my res a bit ;)

    84.11:

    1 49 50 %
    24 43 96 FPS

    84.20:

    0 26 74 %
    30 55 135 FPS

Obviously, these are settings for single player, but I'm pretty impressed with the improvements anyhow :) Might up the res to 1280x960 now.

    FEAR Settings:

    Everything on maximum.
    4xAA
    8xAF
    1152xwhatever it is
    Soft Shadows: off
    EAX HD: off

With its crummy graphics i dont care that much about FEAR, CoD2 on the other hand, is much more important. And i'm glad to say SLI under CoD2 is FIXED, unlike the 84.12's.

what kind of frame rates do you get with your GT's in CoD2 ? i'm thinking about buying a second card .. but if i can't run @ 1280 with max settings and get nothing less than 50-60 fps i'm not going to bother.

IIRC, i'm averaging in the mid 30's to mid 50's. Granted, i'm playing at 1680x1050 everything maxed, 4xAA, 8xAF.
But... i'm also getting some texture anamolies. Damn nvidia.

I see we have similar opinion on the drivers. The improvement is so tiny that they aren't worth installing.

Normally I'd agree with you, but these drivers do seem to improve FEAR performance to the point where you can actually up res/increase AA settings. That's actually something significant imo.

I just want to go on record by saying these drivers are fast and gameplay is very smooth!!! FEAR went up accordingly, and I gained 160 in 3dmark05.

    I gained 45 in '03 but I lost 2 in '06. 'Cause of this I won't use them. :toke:
    Just joking.

These are definetly keepers, highly recommended

    Hello all!
I'm new in this forum :)
    Well I installed those new 84.20, used 83.90 before these. Well I ran css stress test before and after new drivers, and I was kinda "wtf o_O" with the results. With old drivers I got like 174 fps, with 1024x768, 4xaa, 8xaf, and all settings maxed. With new betas I got like 154 fps! ;_;
Anyone else noticed this or is it just my comp?

Hmm, strange. My ingame performance seems to be better with these drivers, or about the same with previous drivers. But that stresstest still has sucky fps :D

    84.20 : 6669

..and I go back to 84.12

These are good. Only did 1 test run so far but FEAR 1280x1024 everything max (ss off) +16x AF HQ(optimizations manually turned off in cp/RT) 2xAA gives 80FPS average and a minimum of 49FPS, where before avg was ~70fps with a minimum of 42 or so fps. A nice boost.

    These overclock badly..
    I ran my 7800GS stable at 470/1350 with 84.12
now i'm getting blackouts after 10min of gaming.
Down to 440/1300, and still going downwards it seems...
    :(
