you should try the drivers for yourself drivers dont work the same on every system whats better for me wont mean it is better for you.

I cant find the registry tweak to enable triple buffering because the examples i have seen of the tweak are using win xp as i have win2000pro i cant seem to find it which is anoying because i really do need it just run BF2 smoother.

I'm pretty sure BF2 runs Direct3D, the setting is only for OpenGL. If I'm wrong about BF2 I'm sorry.

The 64 bit installer is throwing an error for me. Basically this installer can not be used with this system.

However, to be fair the machine has only been on for about 3 hours total.

    256MB is common for PCI-Express 6600gt, most AGP 6600gt only have 128mb

I have been researching this for about three days now and have not found a decent answer yet. I have a good idea what v-sync does (Runs frame rate with the refresh rate), my question is why would someone want to run it, it is basicaly putting a cap on your FPS to whatever your refresh rate is? The only reason I can come up with is if you experience "Tearing", by enabling v-sync you can sometimes fix the tearing problems.

This question came to me when members starting talking about "Triple Buffering", which basicaly allows you to use v-sync but have increased FPS, right? Why not just disable v-sync and get the increased FPS? I have a feeling I am gonna get made fun of for not knowing about this but I have never enabled v-sync so I just have no idea. Thanks guys, much appreciated!

Sorry...but that doesn't work at all.
I have read it in interviews, other forums and tested it myself.
If tearing could be fixed that easely, Vsync wouldn't exist.
Putting a cap on your fps will not help at all....

MY personal favorite for bf2 so far the 77.76(would be 77.77 if it didnt crash after 40minutes) but those may even be slower for it as i seem to get like 2k less aquamark3 points like before the new 75.xx boosts but with triplebuffering and vsync its smother than with the boost drivers without triplebuffering. the 77.72 were fastest but i couldnt get the triplebuffer to work and they also have shadow probs in bf2(i think) but i wouldnt care as i dont use um anyways my system isnt really fast enough:mad:

Ok heres the deal in a game like bf2 with triple buffering. If u can run it at the best settings and never see it drop below 60fps at the most hectic parts then u wont need it.
without vsync and triple buffering your fps would be say 50-70 for example. Now if u used triplebuffering with vsync you would get 60fps constant or nearly.

whats going on in simple terms is instead of your card rendering those extra frames above 60fps its thinking ahead more, so where it does drop below 60fps you get extra fps then where it matters the most.

And there is no need to render frames more than what you have your monitor refreshing at like if u have your monitor at 85 refresh rate and have your fps at 100 you dont get to see 15 of those frames every second so why make your card draw them.

Ive tried every driver on guru3d beta and modified too.

Without reservation I recomend the 77.77 Nvidia beta

Best for BFG 6600GT oc / AMD XP imo.
