Well... These drivers ALSO crash guildwars. Happened twice, reverting back to 77.13.

Have you been switching drivers alot? I've continuosly lost 5-10mhz each time I change drivers. I used to almost hit 1200mhz on the memory but now can only get to 1100 stable. My core tho seems to stay around 580mhz no problem.

Are you able to run Aquamark3 at 580MHz? If so, your GPU must be really high quality. Here it will hang while loading if it's set any higher than 561.

right now..there are loads of posts around the BF2 internet forums..about users with high end machines..that cannot play the game decently....
    - game stutters terribly, randomly..for 2-3 minutes...or when u look certain places on the map....is like having 1-2fps....
    - game freezes..and then automatically reboots pc...

    I have the same problem...and I have
    asus a8n
    amd 64 4000+
    leadtek 6800gt

    is not power related....

people reporting..that reverting back to the old drivers..are getting the shadow bug but stutters disappears....

also..people reporting..that BF2 demo is insane on memory as it uses more than 1gb.....

there is a big problem right now..with game stuttering...in high end machines...and noone seems to have an answer....

    posts are all over at

Has this been mentioned? Did any of you having trouble with this driver first unistall and run driver cleaner before installing it. Overlapping drivers is not a good idea at all. When it mentioned to install the driver, I opted not too. Then, after the game installed, I unistalled my other driver and accessed 77.30 from the start menu..of which it has an option.

That could be a reason some of you got blue screens and other small problems you didn't before. Just a thought.

Quite honestly, to me, this is the best driver nVidia has released to date.

yeah, after switching drivers around I used to be able to get 1190 but usually was limited to 1175 or 1180. I tricked rivatuner into letting me get 1190, however.

  12. BF2 runs better with ATI cards !?!?!?!?!?

    Hi all,

    have a P4 3.2 with 2 GB RAM and GF 6800 Ultra.
Maximum AA in BF2 demo for me is 4x. (more not available!?)

A friend of me has an P4 2.66 with 1 GB RAM and ATI Radeon 9800 XT.
He can go in BF2 demo to 6x AA !!!!

How is it possible that his old ATI can perform higher then my GT 6800 Ultra? Why he can choose 6x AA in BF2 Demo and I just 4x AA !?!?

Well then go and force 8xAA in the NVidia Driver Menu but i don't think that it's good for your framerate. 4xAA is high enough and it will decrease your and your friends framerate strongly.

Btw. 77.30 works great for my System, even better then 77.13.
Videos work fine. I have no heat issues. Guild Wars works without any problems, EQ2 works great with them and of course the BF2 demo works fine too. And the IQ of 77.30 is very good.

nVidia doesn't support 6AA whereas ATI does. People using a nVidia card in HL2 using 6AA were actually going with 0AA. Seems like BF2 is a bit smarter and simply don't show the option to nVidia users.

Are you saying if you set the same quality settings and he has 6x AA and you use 4x AA he gets a better frame rate?!??!!??! Just because he can select that option doesn't mean his card performs any better, In the same way a 6200 can use SM 3.0 and an X850XT PE can't, doesn't mean the 6200 performs better.

  16. @ frsschmidt & Blaise

    Thx 4 info! Didn't know that... :(

    But another question:

I play the BF2 demo everything with "high" and 4x AA and works great.
Just "Lighting" I have to reduce to "middle". If I change "Lighting" also to "high" I loose a lot of performance and BF2 isn't playble anymore for me.

What is "Lighting" doing, that the FPS goes so extremly down.

No no... didn't mean that! Sorry for my bad english. :(

I was just wondering why he could choose 6x AA, and I don't even have the possibility to choose it! (I just can choose 4x AA).

If we compare if have same FPS with 4x AA as he with 2x AA....

  18. Correction: If we compare I have same FPS with 4x AA as he with 2x AA....

The 77.30 drivers bundled with the BF2 demo certainly sorted out some of the graphical glitches with shadows, grass and smoke, but I note that the temperature readings have risen almost 20% over the 71.89 drivers. It looks like the temp.bug may have made a come-back (for me, at least !)

The IQ is good on other games as well (e.g COD) though, so I'll hold on to them for now.

it's cause the 6 series doesn't do 6x AA. I think you have to force it.
