Man the performance under DX11 in Dragon Age 2 is MUCH BETTER ! I run the game very smooth under DX11 very high, and all max except DOF. And guess what? This is only a nvidia driver, if bioware is releasing a patch for optimizations, the game will run even better :) This driver is very nice :) Thanks nvidia

I've been testing the 270.51 and I have the feeling that when you turn on AA punished more than normal performance (if only I tried the Crysis Warhead).
I think that was more fluid with 266.58.

    To someone else this happens?

That's not strange, actually, it's by design. Unless it's happening during gaming, this is the card downclocking itself to save on power and to cool down when nothing too graphically intensive is needed. Regular usage in Applications and such doesn't require anything more than 100MHz in the clock, so the card stays cool, quiet and power efficient when it's not needed.

    ok :D

sorry but yea this out of focus got me pissed because they changed something with cuda 4.0 and since this game uses allot of filtering/shader effects it somehow corrupted something on g92 rev:b chip..

Well the game runs faster because its "missing" this main "focus" effect, normally its 82fps avg, now with 270.xx + blurred image 87fps avg.

Anyway i already reported to nvidia i hope they fix it in final.

Unless there is problems and no brand new games have came out, there is really no need to update them IMO.

Nvidia is definitely still supporting it, the SDK is still being updated, Maya and 3ds max recently added brand new physX plugins. PhysX is also still getting new development support from nVidia (releasing new tools, etc). They just released a new tool called APEX. APEX is a multi-platform scalable developement framework, designed to reduce development time and costs when creating complex physics content. APEX was used in Mafia 2 for example and it is now fully integrated into Unreal Engine 3. If you take a look at the UE3 video from GDC2011, it uses APEX.

One crazy thing recently was that Age of Conan recently switched to PhysX-powered server-side game physics which hasn't done before. Funcom claimed that the change results in "more than a doubling in the speed-of in-game physics processing" versus the normal method where PhysX is on the game's client software. I wonder if any other MMOs will try that in the future.

So there is still lots of stuff going on in the physx world, especially for developers. This is a great site for physx/apex stuff, lots of stuff has happened recently. http://physxinfo.com/news/

Nothing to report here. Im forcing Vsync+TripleBuffering with D3DOv., game is maxed out in every setting. Actually its more smooth and fps quite raised a bit. I was getting an AVG of 74-80, now quite 84 stable.

Sadly on my gaming rig BC2 is crap and moves the screen to the left. DA2 is better but back to 267.84

I think with this driver the video card is heating up a little. Do you noticed that ? It heats in idle, when i'm browsing

    Just did a Heaven bench.

    266.58 52.0FPS (always) 1600x900 4aa/16af.
270.51 51.8FPS (3 tests so far)- sames settings as above.

    Not a major difference.

Will be trying Crysis 2 later.

Same as the post above, still idling at 34/35c and same max of 74/75c when running Heaven becnh (just like 266.58).

TheHunter, I hope you get that worked out. I really think that something in the 270 drivers is conflicting with some older driver dll that you have from one of the other drivers you've tried in the past, whether that be the NVidia 3D driver or one of your profiles. If it were me I guess I'd try one of those registry cleaners like the one built into the CCleaner program (www.ccleaner.com) or see if there's any errors shown in Administrative Tools/Event Viewer. The CCleaner program in the registry checker part of it does a scan and then lets you look at what it finds before it lets you choose what to remove or not remove and if you decide to remove anything it gives you the option to backup the registry first. I've never gone wrong with it. You could have it do a scan then look through what it finds and see if it says anything that has to do with video. You don't even need to have it fix it but you'll know right away what it sees is wrong on your PC.

Anway, I hope you find the answer.

yeah, me...i had 2-3 fps in a race, had to alt+tab to get the fps back up again...weird thing that when i had this BUG, my GPU utilization was 99%, :), after i alt+tab the game the fps went back up to 40fps, and the GPU utilization down to 60%..
